I watched a “how to” video on YouTube and the installation was simple and easy. One month later the trim piece is still tight and looks good.

This product is a perfect replacement for the factory piece on my 2015 Explorer. While driving on the highway, I heard a pop and thought I'd run over something in the roadway. Later, I discovered that the plastic trim piece on the passenger-side front door behind the window had broken while driving, and part had blown off. The lower third or so remained on the car. After researching and finding out what it was called, I ordered this piece.It arrived quickly. In the meantime, I had found a video on YouTube on how to replace the piece on a similar vehicle, so I knew what to expect. I removed the remnant of the old piece by pretty much pulling on it to force it off. Then I got to the hardest part. This piece (factory and aftermarket) is held on by a couple of plastic clips and what appears to be heavy-duty double sided foam tape. Much of that tape remained on the car as a firm rubbery goo. It took me about an hour with Goo Gone and elbow grease to get all of it off. Maybe their is a better product to remove it. I then cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol.I pulled the ends of the backing film from the top of the new adhesive strips so they were accessible. I then placed the new trim piece, allowing the top ends of the backing film to stick out. You do have to make sure you get the bottom of the trim piece down behind the rubber trim at the level of the bottom of the window opening. Then, insert the plastic clips into the guide holes in the door to align the piece. Once you are happy with the alignment, pull on the protruding pieces of backing film to removing them like opening a zipper. Press firmly to set the adhesive tape, and you are done.Except for the removal of the old adhesive, this whole thing could be done in about 2 minutes. I never paid any attention to this trim piece before. Now I've noticed how many vehicles of different brands have similar pieces. The new one looks great, too good. After a little wear, you'll never be able to tell the difference.
