Michael Moore Is a Big Fat Stupid White Man

今や、マイケル・ムーアはすごく崇拝されているけど、華氏９１１を観て、あまりに内容が偏っていたので、この本を読みました。個人的にBowling for ColumbineとDude, where's my country?についての見解が面白かったです。確かに、コロンバインで起こった事件は、この犯人二人の同級生が書いた別の本の内容からもわかるように、テレビが原因ではないし、ムーアはよく彼の作品のなかにオクラホマ連邦ビル爆破事件犯のマクベイを取り上げるけど、これも間違いが多い。でも、ある意味で、みんなと同じ視点では、映画や本はヒットしないから、脚色したり、別の意味に作り上げたりするのもビジネスのやり方の一つなのでしょう。彼の作り上げる作品を最初から、ドキュメンタリーとして観てた自分が間違ってた。華氏９１１も、選挙前にブッシュばかりを非難して中立性を欠いた自己満足の作品だと思う。でも、ムーアがしてることすべてが、間違ってるとは思わない。例えば、重い病気で保険がおりなかった患者のために抗議を行い、保険がおりるようにしてあげたりと、人助けもやってるので、この本の筆者たちのすべてが正論ではないでしょう。

「ボウリング・フォー・コロンバイン」「華氏９１１」はもちろん、ムーアの著書も全部目を通してきたわたしにとってこの本の内容はショッキングでした。実は「Dude, where's my country?（邦題：おいブッシュ、世界を返せ！」あたりからムーアはちょっとヤバイ方向に向かってるなあ、とは感じてはいました。特に「Dude」の冒頭のブッシュへの公開質問で、ブッシュとビンラディンの「黒い関係」に言及したあたり。「華氏９１１」もこの辺が下敷きではあるのですが、本書はその「Dude」はもちろん、「Roger＆Me」も「ボウリング」も「バカでマヌケな白人」も全て事実を挙げてムーアの情報操作（「捏造」と言ってもいいかもしれない）を暴きます。２０００年フロリダ州での「不正」選挙？ペンタゴンは年間予算の６分の５を一機の飛行機開発に使っている？全米ライフル協会の会長（当時）チャールトン・ヘストンはコロンバイン住民の意思を無視して全米ライフル協会集会を強行？ブッシュはビンラディンと親密？ムーアが自分が既に出している結論を導くため事実をいかに歪曲しているかが詳述されています。本人が一大権力となっているムーアを非難する声は少し前からありましたけど、これだけ体系的に例証をみせつけられるともう参りました、の感。何にせよ自分で考えることを忘れることの怖さを思い知らされた一冊でした。

Dieses Buch hinterfragt seine Bücher, Filme und Thesen allgemein - und zwar in genau dem selben polemischen Stil wie Moore. Leider tut das die Deutsche Presse nicht und somit gibt es bis jetzt auch noch keine Deutsche Ausgabe dieses Buches; deshalb nur 4 Sterne.Ein Muss für alle, die meinen, sich umfassend über Weltpolitik zu informieren!

Aside from the insane leftists in education and Hollywood, most Americans have seen through the hatred and hypocrisy of the millionaire Halliburton-stock-holding Mikey Moore. If not, this book puts the proverbial nail his big coffin. There are so many great FACTS that prove Moore to be an incompent, angry liar. This continues today with his current films and $40,000 speeches. Moore is not adept at covering his tracks when he alters newspaper articles, dubs in words to speeches, etc. It's a shame some leftists love his propaganda so much they'll believe anything. Sound familiar?And to those who gave this book one star, as others have wisely indicated, it's rather apparent that most of the negative reviews come from people who obviously have not read the book. So true. I gave this book to many left wing friends and NONE would read it. Typical.

After hearing much ado about Michael Moore's films and seeing some of his interviews during the conventions, I decided to pick up this book to read another view of the guy. I have to say, the authors really did their homework. Obviously, they don't like Mr. Moore; however, instead of merely bloviating, they deconstruct many of his more outrageous statements (made both in person and in his movies) and show in a very organized fashion just why and how he is wrong. There is an extensive amount of research, which is all cited in the book. No statements are made about Mr. Moore that cannot be backed up.I'll be honest--I never really liked Michael Moore before I read the book; however, now I have a solid argument to back up my opinion of him. I only wish Mr. Moore and others of his ilk could say the same when bashing people like the president...
