A Paraplegic Review!
I have to give a review from an independent T-7 Complete paraplegic perspective. My biggest concern before buying this Hinged Elevated Toilet Seat was the hinge itself. How stable would it be? I read plenty of reviews but none of them addressed this issue. Most reviews were how they were purchased for an elderly parent. A person who might have trouble standing or getting back up from a low toilet due to hip, knee or other reasons. That was sitting down and getting back up. That is not my case! As a 20+ year severed spinal cord paraplegic I cannot stand at all. I do independently transfer from my wheelchair to the toilet and then from the toilet and either back to my chair or most often to my shower transfer bench. My worry is that when I transfer, I often use the seat to lift and position myself for the transfer and sometimes push off for the transfer. And I am 205 lbs. How stable is the hinge? I love the idea of it hinged for cleaning purpose but would strong and how long will it last using it as a paraplegic? Well, I can tell you - it is fantastic!!!! I have had it several months and it has been as strong as the first day I installed it! It is a stable and strong hinge. Mine is an elongated toilet seat and I am very satisfied with this Ableware Hinged Elevated Toilet Seat. I would also like to give a tip to others users that are about my weight. I have a cushioned toilet seat. I take off the two risers on the underside of the seat. In previous elevated seats those risers quickly wear down the Elevated Seat causing it to crack and depression right where the risers sit on the Elevated Seat. So when I got this Ableware Hinged Elevated Toilet Seat, I took those risers off the underside of my cushioned toilet seat. It leaves two holes where the risers were. I cover them with duct tape. It works fine laying flat on top of the Elevated Toilet Seat and does not cause the wear and tear. Every couple of months I replace the duct tape over the holes but it saves the life of the Elevated Toilet Seat! Overall, I highly recommend this Ableware Hinged Elevated Elongated Toilet Seat!

Best part is the ease of cleaning compared to others!
If you need something to make your toilet higher, this is the one to get. Some of the others are impossible to clean because you have to remove them to get to the areas that get dirty. But not this one! Because it lifts like a regular toilet you can get to those dirty areas and clean easily. This one also feels better and solid. No ones want to have to use something like this, but when you do...get this one!I still gave it 5 stars even though with the toilet we use it on wasn't quite right. The lid won't stay up because of the bolts and where the lid fits on our toilet. So we left the lid off, no big deal to us.This sits on our toilet perfectly, does not slip around, feels solid and like I said it's so easy to lift up and clean!

Impressed with the appearance and practicality.
Looks much better than the typical riser and eliminates the potential for tipping since it connects to your toilet. Only 2 issues so far after a month 1) it actually dented in a bit from one of the toilet seat spacers. No cracking but there is a definitive dent. 2) It has oblong holes for the bolt/fastener to go through. Makes installation easier but it allows it to shift. They need to provide something like a spacer to fill in the extra space. One thing to note is that the toilet seat to accompany this needs to be the old fashion type with holes for the bolt to go through. Newer models with the quick release knobs will not work. I'm very happy with this so far and would recommend.

Does what's needed
My wife and my own knees were not doing well with our 3 normal toilets---they were simply too low. After trying a different toilet lift that had side rails that was awkward for male users, I found this, somewhat more stylish, solution. Using the included hardware, the whole installation process takes only about 15 minutes and requires only a couple of screwdrivers. We are very pleased with the result functionally and cosmetically.
