Good frying thermometer
Whatever you do don’t submerge or rinse this underwater. I bought this after I shorted out my last Taylor candy thermometer by rinsing it. This one is a little different but works well. The old one had a silicone tipped holder which held much nicer on the side of a pot. This one is just thin flimsy metal. The other one had a bunch of settings that were pre-programmed and I think it even had an alarm. The new one just has temperature readout. The print is much bigger so it’s easier to see. The stem is nice and long and will fit in most applications. I tested it against my $100 Thermo pen and it reads temperatures accurately.

Good thermometer, easy to read
Thermometer works great, I use it in my pouring pitcher/double boiler when making candles and am happy with it. The clip to hold it into the pan is a little flimsy, and since this thermometer is so top heavy it doesn't always hold it so it stays in the liquid I'm trying to measure the temp of, but I found a way around it.

Malfunctioning out of the box
Straight out of the package, removed the battery protector and turned on to see half the display doesn't work. Poor quality control. Sending back for refund, will purchase another brand.

This Is The One To Buy!
This Is The One To Buy! It's fairly long at 9 inches, and that was a positive. It doesn't, or hasn't fogged over, even making caramel and stirring for 3+ hours. It has a large display that's quick and easy to read. The display face can be tilted for best viewing. The display does shut down after a time but pushing a button on the bottom turns it back on quickly. This one is so much better than any of the others I've seen that small annoyances don't matter. It also doesn't seem to have any fancy presets or programming, it just does a great job of measuring temperature. Oh, don't count on using the little stainless clip if you're a serious cook. That is another project. This one solves the accurate, durable thermometer concern. If you're stirring something then strap this to a slotted spoon and let the probe protrude through a slot. Fix your strapping so that you don't touch the bottom with the probe but still immerse sufficiently.

Died immediately when exposed to heat
This thing died the first time we used it and the return window closed so we are stuck with a useless thermometer. We attached it to the side of the fryer pot as you normally would, and actually only filled the pot with oil a little less than half way but the thermometer could not withstand the heat and stopped working after about 10 minutes. Not a very reliable product in my opinion. We purchased it because it was the longest one I could find that would reach the oil when only using small amounts in a pot, otherwise would have bought a traditional candy thermometer but those are too short. I guess that's what we will have to do at this point.
