Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family

An eye opening and candid portrait of the Sussexes life together so far
The authors of Finding Freedom (as obviously authorised by) Harry and Meghan, have brilliantly set the record straight with an eye opening and candid portrait of the Sussexes life together so far. The British tabloids and press have always been lethal, brutal and vulture-like and you can't always believe everything reported by them as fact. As soon as the beautiful, intelligent, self-assured Meghan came on the scene she was scrutinised with any minor detail being picked up on. After 4 years is it any wonder she and Harry had issues with the press which had come to a head? No matter what they did or said they were picked on. Granted it also didn't help that there were issues within 'the firm' with private information being leaked intentionally by palace staff or courtiers. Is it any wonder that they wanted to live their own lives under their own terms, without any interference or constraints from 'the firm' or the press, and manage their own destiny, their own projects, and their own publicity?I have always favoured Harry from the moment he was born. He was always the mischievous one yet lived in his brother's shadow. Yes he was a spare but he is now nowhere near an heir, but that's another book. In my mind Meghan became his saviour. You can see they love and respect each other very much. They should be allowed to live their own lives without intrusion and finance their way through life as they see fit. We have already seen how gracious they are and how they give a lot of thought to their actions. The Sussexes have 2 beautiful children and do a lot of good with their respective charity work and projects. It is only right they be applauded and recognised not vilified. The authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand are duly qualified to write about their subjects, having had years of reporting and travelling with the Royal family under their belts. Their knowledge and style of writing is impeccable. I loved the elegant stylised type font and all the photos. In my view a real classy book!

An Excellent Read!!
I can not but help think that all those that have left negative, often bitter reviews on this book, should take a step back and think, who gives us the right to think we know better, or more about the lives of Harry and Meghan. We can all have our personal opinions, but unless we are having to live through all this, or witnessing it as family and friends of Harry and Meghan, we should not let those who dislike, resent, and seek to try and discredit this inspirational couple, try and take away the beauty of what this book is about.Whilst they are one of the most famous couples on the planet, what they have in common with us all is that they are human beings with feelings and emotions which have clearly taken an unnecessary, and often hateful battering over the years. This book tells their side of the story, whether or not it has come from the brilliant Authors, friends of the couple, or even Harry and Meghan themselves. It gives an insight into how hierarchy and age old traditions can at times replace respect, care and compassion for others feelings and wellbeing. Just because something has been done a certain way for hundreds of years, does that mean it has to be right?!This book is such a great read in many ways... You may love it, you may hate it, or be neutral in your thoughts. For me, I loved it, because deep down it is really just telling a story of what many mixed ethnicity couples have to go through in some shape or form (and I use mixed ethnicity couple in the most respectful of ways). The obvious difference is that is no ordinary mixed couple, but then why should that matter?I thank the Authors for giving us such an enlightening and inspirational read!

Probably the most accurate account so far
This book gives a comprehensive account of Meghan's life before she met Harry which helps you to understand the person she is as well as reminding us of Harry's past. The book is not sensationalist at all and the fact everything it says has been carefully fact-checked and the authors know the subjects they're writing about means that you know you're not reading the usual kind of gossipy royal biography where the author has never even met the subject and is relying on heresay. The book corrects many of the inaccuracies reported in the tabloids and elsewhere with sensible, logical and believable information and although it's a little critical of William and Kate it seems to me deservedly so, without going over the top. Reading through the book you can see exactly how the couple felt the decision to move away was their only option. Nothing money-grabbing or narcissistic about it as some would have you believe. It was a good and interesting read. My only criticism is that the book is written in a slightly flowery manner and there's way too much detail about the clothes people were wearing and the food they ate, totally superfluous info.

Hmm...
I read and thoroughly enjoyed "Spare" - clearly written in Harry's own voice but this is a different beast and more of a struggle, requiring the reader to wade through a somewhat tedious stream of PR puffery about how Meghan is, you know, just *so* wonderful. It's unnecessary and detracts from her story, which I'm sure is interesting and strong enough to stand on its own legs without this frilly decorating.Unlike "Spare" this was written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand - and it shows.Their over-cooked endeavours to relentlessly show Meghan in a positive light makes it a struggle to continue reading past the halfway mark.I have tremendous admiration and respect for Harry *and* Meghan, and wish them well in their brave move to becoming more independent from the weighty and cloying expectations of "The Firm" - but sadly, I feel this offering doesn't help to know and understand her anywhere near as much as "Spare" did for Harry.Overall: "meh".

Preciosa edición
The media could not be loaded.

The Diana complex over and over
As I progressed through the book, I found myself unable to dismiss the notion that the Duchess of Sussex may have been attempting to reflect Diana's persona throughout. I did not particularly appreciate this unbalanced portrayal of events.

A Real Life Story of Love and Triumph
There was so much gossip about these two and how they were not fitting in and taking a lot of missteps. This book tells of what really happened and how they had no other choice to get out of the UK. The stories are real and backed up by all households. I had a feeling that the Royal Reporters were not being honest, but not to this extent. In this case I am glad the Sussex's left for their son, their mental health and it would have only gotten worse if they stayed. They are thriving now and doing what they were called to do. I knew of Meghan beforehand, and with Prince Harry, well, he is so much like his mom who I will always idolize. Good book and one I had a hard time putting down. A very easy read and you don't have to know anything about the Royal Family to read it or understand it.
