This thing is HUGE!
This is an expensive item, but I got the most bang for the buck with this seller, who has the best price for the main item, with extras thrown in for good measure.1- the mat is HUMONGOUS. It is bigger than the area I had in mind, but will be great for ironing long pieces of fabric at one time instead of in pieces2- the mat had NO ODOR whatsoever3- the mat is 1/2" thick, a good thickness and should last a long time.4- Amazingly, you can ROLL the mat into provided bag, which is a really nice feature if you want to carry to different location. Keep the paper cardboard it comes with, because there is a line of sticky tape that helps keep the mat rolled up tight. At least I did anyway.5- the color of the mat is a light gray, even color throughout. I don't know if the color will change with use. The previous wool mat I bought certainly changed color with use (turns yellow-brown in spots, maybe because of using steam iron)6- The felt bag is functional, but the handles uses a very thin flimsy vinyl material. The tailoring is nice, but I don't think the handle will hold up to abuse.7- There's a light grey felt wool bag that includes a tape measure, pins, and seam ripper. They are very inexpensive items, but still nice freebies that will be useful on the go.8-it came packaged in a big long box, so no damage whatsoever upon opening.I definitely recommend this as a BUY, from this seller in particular.

Perfect for ironing board top
This was the perfect size for my 60 year old ironing board… I cut the end to make it fit the same of the board and then made a cover to protect it - perfect for my quilting projects!

Doesn't gum up my iron or have an overwhelmingly strong smell
Better than any other wool mat that I've had. It doesn't have an overwhelming bad smell like others that I've used nor did it leave gunk on the bottom of my iron. I used the mat without a cover to test it out with my Oliso iron on it's highest setting and I had no problems. I am allergic to wool, but I love wool mats, so I did make a cover for it. The texture is soft and not itchy on my hands like my old mat. There is a very mild smell, but it's not strong at all. My old mat, no matter what I did I couldn't get the smell out of it and every time I ironed it made my room smell bad. Not this one. The extra things that came with it was sort of a nice touch too.

I love this thing!
I love the size of this ironing mat. It's a full half-inch thick and is so nice piecing quilts, as well as pressing large cuts of fabric. I highly recommend it!

Fair ironing board now great.
Every now and then you run into a product that absolutely knocks it out of the park. This is one of them. It is exactly as advertised. It is a half inch thick, firm, yet yielding, and appears to permit steam to penetrate and spread and smooth. Following the instructions, I measured, marked and trimmed the end to fit (photo) the size and taper of my board, then slipped it under my existing cover. Then I tested it on muslin with two irons-one steel and one ceramic, one heavy and the other light-both produced better results than without the wool pad and it immediately solved the problems I used to have with lightly padded board covers. And my irons now glide and do their job better and in less time.Yes, the case is snug, but my pad slid out with only a little coaxing. And I was completely surprised by the little case filled with useful tools (pic) The whole package gets an A+ for thoughtful, attractive design and execution. Highest marks!
