Red Riding Hood and the Big Sad Wolf Vol. 2 (Red Riding Hood and the Big Sad Wolf, 2)

The sweet Wolf and the maniacs in his life
I was very anxious to read Volume 2 of Red Riding Hood and the Big Sad Wolf. I thought Volume 1 showed potential but was a bit uneven. Volume 2 is a winner. It gets off to a strong start with a chapter that has the characters getting somewhat self-referential in discussing their favorite kinds of manga. It is delightfully satirical. Hawk still wants to marry Red Riding Hood and he does charm her parents. Red Riding Hood wants Wolf and her determination makes for a memorable two chapters.. There is a story about the gang going to a hot spring and meeting two Japanese wolves, Young Lord and Ninja. Bunny imagines himself a sci fi hero and Wolf has to deal with a creepy, cursed doll. Altogether, Volume 2 was well worth the wait. I will be eager to see the third volume in March. Red Riding Hood and the Big Sad Wolf reminds me of another favorite series, I Don't Like You At All Big Brother. Both have outrageous stories but to judge from the Amazon sales ranks, not a wide readership. Perhaps they could be put on a "Best Manga Series You're Not Reading" list.
