plenty of bang for your buck
I feel like this was an incredibly good buy at this price. This was my first mtn bike light, so I didn't know what to look for when purchasing it. I now know why many bikers will run one on their helmet too. If you're using it offroad like i am, buy a second one to put on your helmet. It'll really help when you crest a hill or when you need to look down at your bike, feet, or wheels, or up a set of switchbacks. My rides usually last a little more than an hour or so, and there's plenty of light left in the battery when i'm done.My only beefs with the unit: I'd like to have a spare rubber strap that mounts it to the handlebars. I'm concerned it can come of and never be seen again if i wreck.I don't like how there is a green light on the back that never goes off when it's plugged in. It's nice and dim, so it doesn't bother me while riding, but it means i can't just leave it plugged in overnight without discharging the battery. It definitely stays on the handlebars better than I expected, and the light didn't bounce around when i'd hit bumps. with that said, it's not the best way to connect it to the handlebars. it would slowly rotate down the bars - maybe 3 or 4 times during an hour ride on a bumpy rooted trail. Not a major concern, but enough that i'll probably secure it with some electrical tape next ride.

Bright - buy it, you will be happy
I have bought 4 of these in the past 2.5 years. One was defective on arrival, but was easily returned/refunded and repurchased. All 4 are still in use.Pros: 1) On bright, provides enough light for safe riding as fast as I can go (30mph?). 2) 12 hours of light on one charge. (10 low + 2 med). Around 1.5 on high.Cons: 1) Barrel connector mating can be difficult. Requires more force than my teenage kids can usually handle. 2) Poor mounting system, no good way to get a solid mount. I added velcro for extra holding power. 3) Head mount does not allow light to be pointed high enough, such as to the horizon as user is upright.Warning; This light will likely fail due to overheating if left on high output without air flow or heat sink for cooling.I can't speak of its ruggedness, but for the casual biker, you will not find a better light for $21 anywhere. This light puts $20 retail store lights to shame.

Decent light, great price.
The Good1. Dirt cheap/inexpensive.2. Easy to operate/attach.3. Decent brightness.4. Arrives partially charged. The bad1. Cheaply made battery case.2. Kinda ugly.3. Long cord.I've seen a bunch of reviews which made me expect this thing to turn night into day. It doesn't. However the manufacturer of this product appears to be (at least) reasonable in their claims. According to Cree (manufacturer of LED components), a single LED of this type has a maximum output of about 1000 lumens. Doesn't mean you'll get 1000 lumens, just that under ideal conditions 1000 is the max. So a claim of 1800 lumens for three t6 LEDs working in tandem seems within the realm of possibility. In fact, the lowest setting of this light (a single t6) is still noticeably brighter than those t6 "tactical" flashlight shaped bike lights which make ridiculous claims. I also have one of those and they are pretty much useless.I frequently ride light trails and some unevenly paved roads which are completely dark. In the past I had a bad accident when I hit something I couldn't see, at high speed and wiped out. This light provides sufficient visibility for me to feel confident under similar conditions. It illuminates approx a 25 foot circle ahead of the bike reasonably well, and up to about 50 feet or so ahead, somewhat. However, if you're riding downhill over anything more technical than a light trail, you need something that will give you better visibility further down the trail than this does, so you can make good decisions ahead of time. For most people this light will be enough, and the price is hard to beat. In residential areas, you need to point it downwards at the road (it's bright enough to be annoying to oncoming traffic or pedestrians).Part of the strap which attaches the battery to the bike, came off almost immediately. The stitching and construction of the case are pretty cheap. The battery itself just looks like four 18650's shrink-wrapped in black plastic. Also, the cord is too long. Would be nice if it came with a removable section, but for twenty bucks, those are hardly deal breakers. Seems to take anywhere between 5-7 hours to charge (red light in the charger will turn green) on average, but a fully discharged battery (light went out during use) took slightly over 9 hours. One user apparently left his charging for 18 hours and it exploded, so I wouldn't leave it unattended for any length of time.EDIT: Battery life is GREATLY affected by temperature. I used the (fully charged) light on high, in sub-freezing weather, and the indicator turned orange after 30 minutes. The light lasted less than one hour. I then tested it indoors at room temperature, and the indicator stayed green for over two hours. In fact, the light shone for almost three hours (2:56:25) on high, indoors. Expect far better performance in spring/summer than winter.

The light itself looks great, so I might try getting a replacement battery ...
Upon first charge, lithium battery overheated and leaked chemicals that wrecked table. This happened after an 18 hour charge. In the morning, the charger was still showing orange, rather than the fully charged green light.Obviously, I should not be sending a "fully charged?" damaged Li battery by mail, so I'll have to look into how to return this.We are lucky the house did not burn down. Particularly scary when we have two young children. Traumatizing! The light itself looks great, so I might try getting a replacement battery sent out. I will charge the battery in an easy to melt container floating in a big basin of water with no other flammables in the area, and a smoke detector nearby. Not sure it is worth all this though, might just want to spend more for a light that comes with a reliable high quality lithium battery.

it is a great light, easy to put on and take off ...
This light is very bright, but... There is a short in the wire-to-battery wire near the coupling where it attaches to the battery lead. I have to make a loop in the wire and put a wrap tie on it to keep the light on. Also, the charger lasted about five charges and went kaput. I put volt meter on it. She was dead. No instructions whatsoever came with this light. Once working, it is a great light, easy to put on and take off the bike. I got a charger from a Bright Eyes light which works for this battery so I am in business. The price was right.
