Thick glass
Very well made jar, perfect for sour dough starter. Nice wide mouth to fit spoon in when feeding sour dough.

Sturdy, basic jar, nice vertical lines
I was very pleased with the complete description of the dimensions of this 1.5 liter Weck jar, which allowed me to determine that it would be appropriate for my needs. I am using it to brew cold brew coffee, after my original carafe was broken. This allows me to have the filter fully immersed, without an excess of water.American canning jars are too small (qt) or too large (2 qt) for my 8" filter. Canada has 1.5 qt jars that might have worked, but I could not find anywhere to buy them, and the Canada retailers did not ship to US addresses.I really do like the straight vertical lines of the Weck jars with the fully open mouths. I do wish there was an affordable source to buy the jars by the dozen, I'd happily switch to them. I would not be using the large 1.5 liter jars for much actual canning, but they are great for storage, especially with the handy wood and silicone lid that accompanied this purchase. Or the Spice Ratchet silicone E-cap I also purchased at the same time. The many sizes available with straight sides are very pleasing to me. And I like the glass lid with the separate rubber seal and metal spring clips - a little fussy, but so much less waste than metal lids that rust in no time in our humid environment.

High quality
This is my second jar - It is a heavy well made jar and will work well for my gluten free sourdough starter. The only oops in my estimate is the seal ring. If you are not careful it will fall into the jar when placing on the glass lid. It would have been better to have it attached to the lid or use a U-shaped gasket to go over the lip of the jar. It can be a bit messy taking sourdough from the jar, but it takes of less space in the fridge due to it being tall. In all other ways, it is perfect.

Prefect for sourdough starter
Got this for my starter and it’s perfect! Has two lid options for when storing in the fridge. And big enough for when feeding the starter on the counter for it not to over flow and make a mess.

Great for homemade cultured yogurt
Purchased to make homemade cultured yogurt. This 40oz sturdy glass jar design (with detachable lid) fit into my pot of water with sous vide stick attached (+ room to spare). This clear jar allows me to see my yogurt batch during fermentation. Its tight-fitting lid closure pieces fit together well. Its height allows me to grab the jar safely after fermentation (removing from the hot pot of water). Perfect seal for refrigeration. Dishwasher safe. Thank you!!! Arrived quickly and nicely packed.

I USE THIS FOR EVERYTHING!
I love making my own immunity drinks. This weck jar is perfect for making a larger batch and storing in the fridge. Is very easy to clean but I fear losing the clasps because they are not attached to the lid.

Sturdy and Good Looking
It's sturdy and good-looking--what else could I ask? I have other Weck jars and I like them. Maybe it's my imagination, but they seem just a bit thicker glass than the common Ball/Mason type jars. I mean, glass will break if dropped, but I feel quite confident using my Weck jars without thinking too much about being careful. I like the normal tight-fitting glass lids, and I love the wooden one that came with this jar. I will use this jar for a lot of things, and I'll enjoy having it sitting out.
