SauderShoal Creek Computer Desk, Jamocha Wood finish

UPDATE: Less than a month after assembling the item, the mid piece which holds the drawer rails not on the sides of the desk fell out. It crushed my toes and sent all the things in the drawers crashing. I was able to put the mid piece back with the locking screws, but the drawer has a dent now and I know not to put breakables in either one. I checked the manual and the drawers weren't holding nearly the maximum weight listed. Don't buy it if you care about durability.Original: I needed a desk for grad school to fit a small space in my studio apartment, which this was perfect for. In hindsight, I wish I had paid for the IKEA one to match my other furniture, as this holds up on color, but not on quality. I assembled it by myself following the directions, and while it was tedious, the directions were good. It feels cheap, even though it is particle wood. The feet have an angled cut that looks weird too, but that's personal taste.

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical, considering the negative reviews. But, after the 2 hour installation time, this is pretty good desk. The downside is that, it can, and should only be placed against a wall. I truly believe that, if the manufacture completed the desk, meaning no part was left exposed, this would be an awesome desk! Would I recommend this desk, absolutely,but I also understand that, not all the desks are created equal.

...of use by a little, old lady. My initial review of this desk was that I loved it. However, here we are less than a year later and, as I sat here typing earlier today, the tray holding the keyboard fell onto my lap because the piece that held the runner on the right side broke. I'm a 70 year old woman and the only one who uses this computer, so it isn't as though there has been anyone around to abuse it or put too much pressure on it. I bought it less than a year ago and now, as far as I'm concerned, it's garbage. It's too bad; it fit my decor so well and I sure did enjoy it while it lasted.

The craftsmanship of this furnature is questionable. But when finally assembled, it seems sturdy enough. The cheap fiberboard construction does not hold fasteners well. At one point, a fastener ripped though the side necessitating panelreplacement.To the company;s credit, they repaced the piece fairly quickly. Neverthe ess, the furnature took weeks to complete. If you do purchase this line of furnature, the paid assembly may be a good option. While I had visions of populating my study with this handsome furnature line. This will probably be it, and I will go back to building my own, Craftsman furnature.

Very nice desk, assembled fairly easy and is pretty sturdy. The drawers definitely have to be adjusted but not a big deal. I currently use this desk with a new 27' iMac and it's perfect! The keyboard tray is the perfect height and very comfortable with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I love that the tray tucks away nicely as a drawer. The only downside is the back is bare wood so if you don't butt it up against the wall then you'll have to find a way to cover it. Otherwise it's an overall beautiful desk at an affordable price!

I have purchased furniture from IKEA, Walmart, and Target, and this is by far the best quality furniture made in this price range. Very heavy, great quality, long lasting furniture. After I saw how sturdy the desk was, I went and bought a dresser from the same company. It seems to me that most of the negative reviews are from those who had difficulty putting it together. Doing it yourself is what helps keep the cost down but you obviously have to be able to follow simple directions. This was no more difficult than any of the above mentioned places but far better quality for the price.

Love it. My husband got this same desk as a Christmas present and we both liked it so much I bought one too. But there was a crease in the wood on the desk top piece, which earned a -1 star, and it gets dings in it super easy, so there went another star. Easy fix though = black Sharpie, go over the dings and scratches, then wipe with a paper towel. Voila, scratches gone and you can’t tell they were ever there.

Desk came with a chipped corner. Heavy and sturdy desk. Got this desk for my high school sister to do virtual school. Would recommend. We didn’t make a fuss about the chipped corner because it was the side that faces the wall so no one will see it.

Was going to order thru Walmart, but they wanted delivery fee of $39!! Ordered here- Amazon sent quickly and for free. It Seems to be a really great desk, weighs a tonne though. I had to unpack the box and take it piece by piece upstairs to assemble.Looks great and box it came in had reinforced corners even to ship it safely.

This desk is not fine furniture but it is very good value for the price. It took two of us to put it together. It wasn't difficult - just would be awkward to do alone. It's very heavy so we put it together as close as possible to where it was going to be situated. I needed a computer desk with a drawer for the keyboard. It works well as there is room for paperwork beside the monitor. Overall it was a good choice for me.

Does the job. Is sturdey with a nice working area, drawer and keyboard drawer...which I use as a second drawer. Nice desk.

Got it when it was 70 bucks. Pain to piece it together but definitely looks, feels and works good.
