Worked well for me (connected via fiber optic HDMI ARC from TV to RCA to speakers)
Unit arrived with 3 cables: (1) USB-A to micro-US for power, (2) HDMI to HDMI that worked with HDMI ARC port on TV, (3) audio Toslink. Did not need optical cable, but nice to have in case. Setup with 2017 Sony TV--only needed to enable BRAVIA SYNC in settings. Volume control works in increments of 2. Working well so far and great to be able to use older speakers. Did not switch TV audio output to PCM initially, which resulted in some shows with no audio--human error. One thing to consider is that HDMI connection can convey white-noise/buzzing/whine (EMI) through speakers. Optical toslink connection fixed but had to give up volume control via TV remote. However, found that there are fiber optic HDMI cables now which provides a silver bullet fix. Not that expensive to add-on.

Worked like a charm!
I've been using a set of 2.1 computer speakers to provide audio for an older flat screen with RCA audio outputs. When I upgraded to an LG C3, that wasn't a (built-in) option anymore. However, with the help of this HDMI Audio ARC Extractor, I got my speakers working with the new TV! CEC seems to be working, as changing the TV's volume changes the speaker output.Per the instructions in the box, I did have to change the TV's ARC setting to PCM; the default Auto option wasn't producing any sound.I'll eventually upgrade to a proper AV receiver with ARC, but given the price, this is a great, simple stopgap!

Stopped working
I had it working with my Flat Screen TV for about one month and suddenly it stopped working. It had a loud buzz and I could not get rid of the sound. I stopped extacting the sound from the TV. I would not waste my money on it.

Works with hdmi arc
I purchased this because I have tlc roku tv and a bose 321 system. I have the bose 321 system sound using the optical port on the tv which works great. However I needed to connect a wireless headphone set so I would be able to hear the tv and use the headphones at the same time for my senior mother. The headphones I purchased have a optical port as well. So I used this device to connect to the hdmi arc on the tv then plugged the headphones into the optical port on the other side of the device. It works perfectly. I have my sound coming through the bose as-well as the headphones and each works independently. I have tried other optical splitters and nothing worked. This device does work!

Just what I needed
The TV I have in my RV doesn't have a external speaker output and the TV is on the other side of the RV and needed a speaker closer to my bed so it wasn't blasting through the whole RV, this works great for that, and I was able to power it right off the USB port on the back of the TV. Now I can plug a headphone cord extension cable and place a speaker next to my bed using the HDMI port on my TV as the external speaker output.

What you need if your TV has no analog audio out.
Current Samsung TVs (and maybe others) have no analog audio out. So to connect external speakers or headphones this is the solution--and also for several other purposes. But if you have any difficulty connecting or getting it working an email to the seller will get you help almost as soon as you click send. And they are the most polite, patient and eager to provide assistance as any seller or Help provider I have ever experienced! When properly connected it works perfectly and requires no ongoing attention. It even turns on/off with your TV!

Works well with my Samsung TV, but…
I have a new Samsung Q70 QLED television that has no analog connection ports. I bought this device to provide an audio connection to my Bose audio system via its 3.5mm connector. My Bose does not have its own remote control for volume. I connected the HDMI cable to my TV and to this device, and a 3.5mm from this device to my Bose audio system. I also connected the USB power supply to a USB port on my TV. I changed my TV Sound Output setting to Audio System(HDMI), Expert Settings to HDMI-ARC Mode to Auto, and Digital Auto Output to Auto. Set the device slide button to ARC. Everything worked great. The TV remote controls the volume to my Bose. The next day, the TV reverted to its internal speakers. I had to change the TV settings again to use the ARC. I believe the device needed to be re-recognized by the TV powered USB port. I’m going to move the power cord from the USB on the TV to one on a power strip, which will always have power.
