Okay, let’s be real. When we see a book that talks about a diet improving brain function and health, we’re a little skeptical. I know I was. But after seeing a friend’s father suffer through the early stages of Alzheimer’s, I knew I wanted to find something that could help them out and after hearing about the MIND diet I knew just what to look for. I didn’t want any old Mind Diet book explaining the ins and outs of what Mind diet is. I wanted something my friend could use on a day-to-day basis to improve the overall health of her father. Low and behold I discovered “The Mind Diet Cookbook.” After doing the initial once-over, this book really does offer a variety of really tasty, healthy recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack time. It offers relatively painless recipe options with common ingredients that can be found in your pantry. This book is a must buy for people who already know about the MIND diet and want to change their food regimen to improve their brain health.

This cookbook is a fascinating look at how food affects the brain. This diet is a combination of the Mediterranean and DASH (hypertension prevention) diets and its goal is to reduce the risk of aging-brain related diseases (like Alzheimer's and Dementia). The cookbook discusses the components of these diets and how they play into brain science and health. The recipes are tasty, simple and easy-to-read in a clear and concise format. The book is conveniently organized by meal, with additional sections for “Smoothies”, Dips, Doughs, Sauces and Seasonings”, and “Snacks.” A definite gift for middle-aged folks concerned about brain health or anyone looking to take care of their brain!

Take care and eat well
As I get older I become more and more concerned with my mental state and how can help keep it as optimal as posible. Not only is The Mind Diet filled with tasty recipes, it offers proof in the pudding. Dr. Morris conducted a study using this diet on senior citizens and the risk of Alzheimer’s decreased. That showed me that getting on this diet at least was no harm. I could nourish my brain and get to eat well at the same time.I don't tale well to all kinds of food, picky as I am, but there are fantastic recipes in this book that even my tastes can get behind. Some of my favorites include: Avacado hummus, grandma's mac ‘n' cheese, walnut crusted chicken, spicy black bean burgers and the juice box smoothie, among many others. There is a section for every meal time, including a section on snacks and even sauces - The reader can even start putting together their own recipes. Self-care at its tastiest.
