CREATESPACE DISCORPORATE! Frank Zappa In The Studio 1966-1967

This is an interesting headline
60s Zappa is my favourite Zappa and WOIIFTM is one of my all-time favourite albums so naturally I had to read this book. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but the cover graphics are so pixelated that they’re almost hard to decipher. There are a few images inside the book and they’re pretty low-res (and black & white) as well. The overall layout of the book is pretty amateurish, like it was thrown together in five minutes in Word and there are a few typos. As for the actual content it’s good with some nice, detailed descriptions of the various recording sessions during the ’66-’67 period. The author seems to have actually heard the session tapes for WOIIFTM and give a fairly detailed account of the contents of those tapes which is nice. All of the officially released songs from this period are discussed but you’ll get more thorough information on every track in Ulrich’s ”The Big Note”. Still, a good read for fans of early Mothers and definitely recommended for lovers of the AF/LG/WOIIFTM.
