Nanoleaf Shapes Triangles Starter Kit 4

The center piece of the living room
A bit pricey, but the best in the market, easy to install, and a joy to play with.. loved it, might buy more to complete a falcon design. My only complaint is that the promo photos of the corner designs are misleading, you will have to buy separate "flexible connectors" to achieve that, as the standard connectors are not bendy.

Very frustrating to setup!
If you want just fancy lights it’s totally not worth the price, because pairing with the app to get the full advantage of it is a nightmare, and the connectivity to the Wi-Fi is just frustrating! (5G vs. 2.4G thing).. it seems this product has become obsolete and the company didn’t care to upgrade it. If you really badly wanted, I recommend asking an expert to set it up in you house.

Unausgereift, macht was es will

A great product let down by frustrating connectivity issues
The good:Fantastic lights. They're unique, eye-catching, and they simply look amazing. They can get really bright. With hundreds of colour combinations available, it's fun to play around with dynamic scenes and modes. The app makes it simple to find more, good-quality scenes through its "Discover" tab, or you can create your own. The panels are easy to mount on the wall, and setting up the initial connection between lights, wifi and app was a breeze. They play nice with Alexa. They're expandable - I like that I can grow my collection of panels over time. The bad:At full price, there's no way around it, these ain't cheap. The app - which is required to control the panels - is unintuitive and cluttered, it could use a redesign. It commonly crashes. The lights often lag or stop responding when you attempt to change them with the app.The ugly: Connectivity and reliability is problematic. To be fair, the lights work as they should most of the time, but it's frustrating that they crash, or simply stop working, as often as they do. In the two months I've had them, I've had to perform (and attempt) multiple hard resets after the lights stopped responding or connecting to the app, for no rhyme or reason whatsoever.Summary: When they work, they're magic. When they don't, well at best it's an annoyance, at worst, an exercise in frustration, involving half an hour of trouble-shooting (e.g. rebooting the router, restarting lights, soft reset, hard reset etc.). At this price point... They should just work. All the time. Full stop.If and when they sort out the connection/app/reliability issues, this would easily be 4- or 5-star product. Until then, it's 3-stars from me.

TERRIBLE adhesive - they need to resolve this.
Clean, freshly painted walls with the normal light sub millimetre texturing you get from painting with a roller. Walls had an entire week before anything was stuck to them, so certainly dry, stable etc.First attempt at sticking them up, following instructions EXACTLY (after spending this much on some LED lights, you really don't want them falling off a wall meters up!) they lasted all of 36 hours before I returned home to find chips in the skirting and the lights scattered across the floor, - thankfully nothing broken, but good grief that's not what you want to see!I'm buying command strips (yet more expense!) as I've used them to hand multi KG mirrors to walls that have lasted years before moving! These lights weigh nearly nothing, so for the ones they provide to not do the job, is really rather bad!The good side - despite some annoyance with 2.4/5GHz router toggling, they are bright, colourful and generally what they advertise.

Excellent lights but software needs some work!
I fitted these panels a little over a week ago now and thought I’d share my thoughts on the install and how I’m finding them. I had high expectations on everything considering the high price of the lights.Fitting them was a breeze, I didn’t really read the instructions and put them up wrong. I initially hung the shapes themselves, left for about 15 minutes then pulled the shapes off and refitted with the connectors in place. They look good on the wall, the cable is fairly hidden behind one of my displays and I had no adhestion issues. My walls are just painted matt white – you should clean the wall beforehand, I didn’t and they seem to be stuck on well.I did try the website that lets you design the layout and found that pretty helpful. I didn’t use the app for this but suspect the augmented reality aspect of it may be helpful. My biggest concern was ensuring they were straight – I eyeballed this and happy with the final result.Once they were hung I powered them on using the physical panel and thought they looked great – I opted for the triangle as the other shape (Octogon?) didn’t look as uniform – I’m glad I went with the triangles as I still think they look good. They sit behind my displays and provide a nice quality of light for video calls, or general background visuals when I’m working.Things start going downhill from here – I installed the Nanoleaf app and found the panels to be constantly non-responsive to the apps requests. I had to reboot the panels a few times and overall found the experience to be poor. There are some nice scenes available which I’ve “starred” or “favourited” with my “go to” being “Be Productive”. The scenes that respond to audio are very poor – it responds but doesn’t make any sort of sense. I tried different music at different volumes from different devices and never felt like any combination worked well so I’ll never use the audio scenes. The initial app setup was a real faff too requiring me to re-install the Home app on my iPhone which I had no intention of using. My biggest complaint with the Nanoleaf is the Alexa integration. We use the Echo devices with many devices in our home and experience the rare issue – the issues with Alexa and Nanoleaf are constant. Some days the Alexa won’t turn the Nanoleaf panels on or off, often it doesn’t recognise the command we ask, we’ve never been able to set a scene with it – only basic colours and brightness and almost all of the time we’ll ask it to do something, it’ll do it but then tell us the Nanoleaf device isn’t responding. I appreciate this could be an Alexa issue as much as it is a Nanoleaf – but I’ve never had issues like this with any other devices.I do also now get scenes showing on the pull-down menu of my iPhone, they work but the brightness is always too high. I like the panels somewhere between 30% and 40% but any time I use a scene from the iPhone (Homekit?) selection the brightness is much higher and uncomfortable.Overall I’m giving these four out of five stars. The lights look good, the light they give off is good, visitors over Christmas commented on how they liked them but the software experience needs some work – it’s really letting the whole experience down. If you can live with some frustration there, I do recommend them.

Good but difficult to set up
The Nanoleaf shapes are impressive once working. There are no instructions in the box, like many gadgets you must follow the app. The challenge was pairing the lights with an iPhone and it took me over 3hrs. After many failed attempts, only the following steps worked;1. Create a split network in my router/mesh with separate SSIDs for 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz.2. Unplug and reset router.3. Connect iPhone to the 2.4Ghz network and reboot.4. Perform a hard reset of Nanoleaf lights (see videos online).5. Re-start the pairing sequence by selecting the ‘Shapes’ network in iPhone Wifi Settings, I.e. not through the nanoleaf app.6. Enter the 8 digit numerical code under the scan barcode. It would not pair by scanning the barcode! After doing all this (and disrupting my entire home WiFi network) the lights now work and look great. If there were better instructions and support option, I would give five stars.
