Book Description When your life is a lie, who can you trust? When Maggie Taylor accepts a new job in Manchester, she is sure it is the right move for her family. The children have settled well although her husband, Duncan, doesn’t appear to be so convinced. But nothing prepares her for the shock of coming home from work one night to find that Duncan has disappeared, leaving their young children alone. His phone is dead, and she has no idea where he has gone, or why. And then she discovers she’s not the only one looking for him. When a woman who looks just like Maggie is brutally murdered and DCI Tom Douglas is brought in to investigate, Maggie realises how little she knows about Duncan’s past. Is he the man she loves? Who is he running from? She doesn’t have long to decide whether to trust him or betray him. Because one thing has been made clear to Maggie – another woman will die soon, and it might be her. Kill Me Again - 4 Stars
I gave this book 4 Stars mainly because I enjoyed the plot and the ending. The heroine, however, could really use a child development class...or 10. I kept thinking to myself, "She is really putting those poor children at risk!" These feelings were frustrating and detracted from what could have been a better plot for the book. The storyline was a bit congested at times, which made the story flow uneven or down right slow in some places. When this happens, I feel the author is stretching the plot to make the book conform to a certain word or page mandate. I DID like the concept of she had, and appreciated her originality and creativity. There were also quite a few twists and turns that made it difficult to put the book down. After awhile, however, I became very anxious to finish the book because there seemed to always be something that preventing the end! The book is basically about a woman who discovers her husband is not all he claims to be, placing the entire family in the dangerous path of serial killers. Nevertheless, the book is definitely worth the read. Good job Rachael Abbott!

RACHEL ABBOTT’S NOVELS KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!
I really enjoyed this novel! The ending was fantastic! There were so many twists and turns. The main characters were larger than life and very sympathetic. I like the way characters such as Tom Douglas & Becly Robinson develop as people through each of Ms. Abott’s novels. Maggie Taylor really annoyed me until about 60% of the novel. For an attorney she sure acted stupid! She has threats against her life made, yet she goes riding bicycles along the edge of the woods with her kids! Her husband suddenly vanishes yet she refuses to call the police. Her and her children are threatened and followed yet she won’t call the police! She finds a photo of a dead woman on her husband’s phone but she won’t tell the police! She sees an old photo of her husband as a child with children from a foster home, and she comes to the conclusion he must be a neighbor of the foster kids! Despite the knowledge her husband has no birth certificate, and never told Maggie anything about his past life, his childhood, his siblings, relatives, or parents. She’s married to him for 10 years and never wondered about his background, and never tried to discover these things? Come on! How did she pass the bar exam let alone the LSAT? Not to mention her husband told her to never open his locked cupboard in the garage, and she never does? If that were me, I would have grabbed his keys while he was sleeping and opened that cupboard! At last Maggie finally smartens up and starts thinking like an attorney! She comes to her senses at the end and chooses to think for herself. She takes action! I loved the ending!Great novel! It was part police procedural, part psychological drama, part suspense. It’s definitely a book worth reading, as all Rachel Abbott’s novels are.

Kept me interested but too predictable
I have read all of Rachel Abbott's books to date. This one could have been much better but I felt that there were huge holes in the story, that were unbelievable. The failure of the main character to tell the police what she knew, the failure of the police not to grill her as a potential suspect when they became aware she was lying and the general stupidity and cluelessness of the main character not to see what was going on before her eyes became more and more annoying. The author also ended the book without sufficient and realistic explanation about what would happen to some of the remaining characters. Although the book did keep my attention, the author seems to be telling a similar story over and over again with her books. Once again, she portrays smart women as clueless as to the people she brings into her life. As a psychologist, I don't buy it.

Never has a character annoyed me so much.
This book has a great plot line, it's interesting, thrilling, smart - everything you need for a really good murder mystery. Why 3 stars? Because one of the female characters annoyed me so much because she was a strong lawyer but so incredibly indecisive that I wanted to scream. I have never felt this way while reading a book. And I had to finish it because I had to know the end result - am glad I did - but I couldn't stand her.

This woman has the worst sense of self-preservation of any character I have ever ...
3 Stars for Tom and Becky. 0 for Maggie (the main character). This woman has the worst sense of self-preservation of any character I have ever met. She didn't even have the sense to protect her children adequately. She gets threatening phone calls, letters stuck through her mail slot and a guy approaching and threatening her son on the side of the road when they went for a family bike ride!), but she still sends them off to school/daycare/football practice and doesn't even know where football practice is!!!! THEN after she finds out that her husband has been lying to her their entire marriage, she tracks him down and "...she couldn't fall apart yet. Not until she found out if he still loved her"!!!!! What?! Who cares?!! I found myself hoping she would experience the natural consequence of her stupidity in the end (be it death or prison) but no, she got away with everything! Also, the surprise ending was no surprise at all. I saw that coming a mile away.I read her previous 2 books and enjoyed them, so I am hoping this is just a weird error in judgment on the author's part.
