The tote is cardboard but still is good quality... as long as you don’t have someone trying to mess it up it should be fine. Lots of fun patterns and add ons. I got this for my Artsy sons 6th birthday and he loved it. Started sewing right away. I like that the patterns are precut and even have a little dimple where the needle (either plastic or dulled metal) goes in as a guide for learning stitching.

Cute set - But directions have no words and are not great picture illustrations. Basically a guessing game based on the actual picture from the front of each packet.

The directions for each project in this kit are so well illustrated that my granddaughter taught herself all she needed to know by following them. She has loved it and went on to design her own pillow because she understood how.There is a metal needle, plastic needle and pins. They're packaged well, so if the kids pay attention there is no need to worry.The needle threader is trash. I don't know why anyone makes them any more. It wouldn't cost much to buy your own.I can't recommend this highly enough for any youngster who wants to learn to sew!

The product itself is great— have given it to an eight and a 10 year old and both loved it! Does require some direction from an adult since no real instructions, but the sets are perfect! Unfortunately, the last time I ordered it arrived with the box busted open. Was delivered in a plastic envelope instead of a box so the clasp was broken & box dented. Ordered another to arrive in time for the party- but it too was packaged poorly and was dented. Product = 8; Packaging = 2

It's a nice little set. My daughter really liked it but the instructions were not as clear as perhaps they should be for the ages mentioned.
