Flaky device (power) and does not change from Bluray region A to B or C, as advertised.
Power is very flaky on this unit.a) it is very finicky (power supply block needs to be PERFECTLY plugged in).b) remote does not turn on the device, half the time. I have to unplug it, wait 5+ seconds and plug it back in.Then sometimes it turns itself off within a few seconds and we can't do anything. For an item that costs this much, and that is brand new, it is unacceptable. This issue seems to have gone away after a few months.c) Unable to change from default Blu Ray region A to region B or C. Yes, I followed the instructions. I have tried this MANY times:Put item in standby mode (which is really unclear, by the way). Press one of the first 3 (of 4) colored buttons at the top of the remote, depending on whether we want to switch region A, B or C. Item does not power on. It goes (or stays?) in standby mode. Pressing Home a couple of times does nothing other than bringing us back to the home screen (on the first of those two presses). When it works, it is not bad at all. It is very light and surprisingly small. The WiFi works great, but I am giving 1 star, because the power is so bad on it, that I thought it was DOA when I first got it 2-3 days ago, I am unable to switch regions, which is one of the main reasons I bought the unit and no response from vendor on getting the region switching to work.

You've got to get one of these!!
If you like Blu-Ray movies, this one is the best, IMHO. With this one, you can watch movies from all the different regions. And, this one seems to have better picture quality than the U.S. only version, probably because it is more flexible in determining the proper color configuration. Just make sure that you take time to set it up completely, the first time, or you will be scampering to find a fix, like me. Still, it wasn't a big problem, and now it works great. Don't lose your instructions either on how to change the regions. Even that wasn't a big deal, I just don't like pushing buttons without knowing what I am doing. Great product, and the consensus is that Sony makes the best Blu-Ray players. I'm a very happy customer. If you like DVD/Blu-Ray movies, don't waste your time and money buying the U.S. only version. Otherwise, you will probably find movies from another region, and you won't be able to view them. I love nature movies, and a lot of them are from the BBC and only available from the U.K., which is NOT a U.S. region. Get one. I highly recommend it.

Use caution updating this Region-Free BluRay/DVD player's software!
I really like this region free bluray/DVD player very much. It works well, has excellent picture quality, and a lot of great extra features. The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is because the company that modifies the player to make it region free doesn't make it clear that you cannot update the software from Sony's website with a USB drive. You must do it with an internet connection via WiFi or LAN cable. I was having trouble getting the update to work over WiFi, so I tried the USB drive approach, but... If you try to use the software update files from Sony's support website downloaded onto a USB drive and then plug that USB drive into the bluray/DVD player, the player's software WILL BE updated, but you will lose the region free capability. Then you will have to contact the support team who modified the player (dvdblurayworld at gmail dot com) and they will send you a link to download files that WILL work to properly update the player's software. This may take a few days of e-mailing back and forth. I have since connected the player directly to my LAN with a CAT5 cable, so should be able to do a software update in the future over the internet and not have this problem again... (Apparently when you do the update over an internet connection, the update files come from the modifying (region free) company's servers, not Sony's...)

No Longer Supported as of 2019
This player is out of date & no longer being serviced by Sony as of 2019, 6 years ago. I bought it so I can stream my 3D content on Fandango. It has the Fandango at Home app, but it is outdated, no longer supported and will not connect to Fandango servers. The only streaming services it will connect to, currently in 2025, is Prime, Netflix and Tubi. That's all you get. It will not update as it is no longer supported by Sony.

Great Player that solves all my tech problems.
Everything I ever wanted!!! It can play multi -region dvds and Blu-ray. Although I only played the Australian Region 4 dvd videos, and American Blu-ray. It has bluetooth, WiFi, download apps like Netflix, Amazon, Crackle, etc. I use the bluetooth feature for wireless headphones. It made my old TV into a Smart TV! You can even sync your TV with the Blu-ray player's remote, since I had lost my TV remote. It's the perfect solution for everything. You can also get on Play Station Network to play games! Although I haven't tried it yet. It also has a tiny green indicator light in the front panel to let you know if the unit is powered on. Surprisingly, some players do not have this feature. This small, compact, and lightweight unit does Everything! I love it! I just received it today so I didn't fully utilize all the features. I was so excited, I wanted to share immediately!

This is not a multi-zone player!!!
Hello. I spent my money on a product that does not meet its specifications. The description says that the player is multi-zone and plays all Blu-ray and DVD discs. However, it turned out that it does not play DVDs of 3 and 5 regions. Only the first one. I didn't have 2 and 4 regions. But it can be assumed that it does not reproduce them either. This is a hoax. I bought two of these players and lost about five hundred dollars, as there were expenses for shipping and delivery to the buyer. What should I do if I am in a country where there is no Amazon store?
