This is really. Great. For any Streisand aficionado. I especially liked hearing the RCA demos.....the talentwas there..but they didn't sign her...I can hear why..even though the talent is there..Barbra sounds likeshe is "holding back"..no belting, no super high notesno making any song sound like "a 3 act play"... she knew whatshe was capable of..but she sounds restrained here on thesedemos.Her live performances at the Bon Soir (on the companion disc to this one) showed more talent, and powerthan these demos doPerhaps she did this on purpose...maybe she was holding out for a better deal, a better contract. Only Barbra will know.BUT..all of this is worth listening to.I LOVE the songs from PINS AND NEEDLES well..I love the entire disc..BUY IT

While there is a bit of extraneous stuff here, it all has a place in the background of arguably the most outstanding female vocalist of our generation. The original cast excerpts are of passing interest but "What Good is Love" is a pleasure. The real gems here are the RCA demos. That RCA didn't sign her is as much a mystery as the guy who turned down The Beatles. These demos are remarkable and Streisand's young voice was then, as it is now, an astonishing gift. A must!

These mostly unheard songs from before she became the superstar are wonderful The demo is wonderful hearing her as a teenager trying so hard so earnest and knowing she was ultimately rejected The album is a bit of a jumble but for a fan it’s a must have
