Fantastic for drilling plastic
It is great at drilling plastic. I needed something to drill through plastic and these have no problem and leave a very very clean edge with no cleanup to do. Good bit!

Cuts clean holes for mounting switches and meters, high quality, no tear out, fast cutting.
The media could not be loaded. Â I do a lot of work with solar power. I have a need to mount switches and meters on plastic battery boxes and on wood control panels. I like round switches (versus rectangular) because they are the easiest to mount with a tool such as this step drill. It drills perfectly round holes with ease (see video). This is a high quality drill. The cutters are knife sharp. It rotates perfectly on its axis -- no wobbling. It cuts holes with virtually no tear out which is important for a flush fit for my switches and meters.I like the three flat sides on the shaft that gives your drill chuck a good grip.As you can see from the video it cuts quickly and effortlessly. It comes in a convenient plastic box for storage. I can't find anything I don't like about this step drill. I highly recommend it.

Works good.
I use step drill bits quite often and this one seems to be as good as any I've used. So far, I've only drilled holes in the bottom of plastic plant pots with this one, but the holes were clean and almost effortless. For anyone that has not used a step bit, if you know what size hole you want to end up with, measure the steps with a caliper tool and then wrap a small length of masking tape around the next larger step, so you can easily tell when to stop drilling. This is a sharp and aggressive drill bit, and it would be easy to oversize the hole if you're not being careful.

Excellent quality
The step drill arrives in a machine tool package. It may be the sharpest and hardest one I've seen. IMHO, the spiral cut format 'seems' better than the single section edge. But, any difference is easily testable in a materials lab that I don't have. So, it's left to opinion. One criticism - the hole size scale is printed in like 1pt font.Nice value for money.

Great for stainless steel
I've purchased a lot of bits that claim they can cut stainless steel but do nothing but heat up and dull down. It makes me happy to get one like this that cuts SS like butter! Plus it is a very clean cut. Works great!

OMG! Seldom have I been so happy with a purchase! Great for drilling Joists1
So seldom do I write these reviews....So seldom am I this pleased with a purchase. I needed to drill trough Joist in my basement to run Cat6 Cable. I had, years ago, drilled a small 3/8" hole because, at the time, using a Forstner bit or Hole saw took too much effort and arm strength. So now i have a 3/8" hole which makes using a Space bit, or a hole saw clunky...a Milwaukee self feeding auger bit needs fresh wood to "screw into". I saw this Spiral Step bit...it seemed to be the answer.IT WAS...Worked like a charm...the spiral even helped "self feed" into the existing hole (not alot...but enough to make it easier). Clean holes....fast.Well built...high Quality...Not a bad word to be said..I'm going to get a bigger one now for future projects.I also bought a vacuum attachment "Aidelife Rotary hammer dust collection attachment, Universal Dust shroud for drilling" and hooked it up to my shop vac. What a dream...hardly any floor clean-up at all!I used a 20v Dewalt Right Angle Drill with a 3/8" Jacobs Chuck...all the power I needed. I would suggest that you have a 4" Forstner bit extension on hand....comes in handy when drilling through double and triple joists. I had one that I bought at Rockler some time ago...but the Amazon version "IVY Classic 46152 4-Inch Forstner Bit Extension, High Carbon Steel, 1/Tube" looks almost identical.

Buy it!
If you are drilling holes in a 55 gallon drum, this bit is EXACTLY what you need. I have struggled for a while to find the right tool for this. This bit self starts and ate right through the drum. It is well worth the money. If you are drilling holes for this it is the way to go!
