Scan at your own risk! You will be SHOCKED at what you see. I purchased this because I heard that some rental owners/apartments do this to the carpet when you move out. I was curious to see what was there. OMG! Mind you...the problem, especially if you have pets is that even if you clean the carpet professionally, the carpet can be clean but the salts in the carpet will never be removed. So you can have clean carpets that look like a crime scene under the black light! I would recommend the for certain situations:(1) you are renting, especially from an apartment complex - do this before you move in and document everything in video or photos, so they can't charge you when you move out especially for someone else's mess....or maybe you can even force them to change it out for you based on what you find.(2) If you have pets that are not house-broken and you cannot find out where the accidents are happening. Keep in mind that once you clean it the color lightens but never goes away.I would NOT buy this if you are easily queasy.

This was bought so I could clean up urine stains on my carpet from my dogs. I have the perfect carpet for showing the stains and this will also take away the area where I cleaned it up with urine remove . You cannot see the stains on my carpet without a black light. I am glad I purchased it, it works great for what I bought it for, actually too good, I can tell my youngest girl has been slipping in her potty stuff and not going outside and not hitting the potty paper either. I am not done with the initial run through with cleaning the stains. I have found it is better for me to clean them than to expect the carpet cleaner to get them all the first time. So until I have my carpet the way I want it I have a love/hate relationship with it.I need to insert here that my carpet is short length and kind of a taupe color. I have found that the dark color works better then the lighter. Let me explain. In my camper I know that there are 2 stains and I know approximately where they are. My carpet in my camper is a short shag, kind of a cream and darker shade blend. Inexpensive carpet but on the light side. In the instructions for the light it says you should be able to see the remnants of the stain by seeing crystals kind of like a very fine glitter. Well I am having a time with that. So since I have cleaned it when it happens I will resort to carpet cleaning there. Still a great light though it may just be me not being able to see it on this light.

I got this to hunt for hornworms on my tomato plants. It worked like a charm!!! I went out tonight, shone it on my plant and found the two worms that were eating my plant. Couldn't be happier that I got this, it works very well. The leaves turn dark purple and the worms glow light green, no more spending HOURS trying to find them. Also, the little light that comes with it works great, I put it on my key ring. Really bright for being so tiny.

Like one other reviewer said you just might not like what you find with this light. It does find little "presents" my Yorkie leaves for me, but the greatest thing was that I accidentally aimed it at my kitchen cupboards that looked clean in the daylight but found they were covered with stuff, drips, etc. found myself having to clean my whole kitchen- cupboards, walls etc. Buying this little thing cost me a lot of work, but I really was shocked at how much crud there was in my kitchen that I never knew about.

This product simply does what is says it does it works as a simple black light and this time of the year in Arizona it will get a ton of use as it the time the scorpions find their way into your house. Lights similar at the pet stores were starting at $22. This did the exact same job and for a fraction of the price. A little too well. I'll spare you the pictures of my carpet. Definitely worth the money. I also recommend Nature's Balance brand enzyme spray for pet urine in the carpet and flooring. And that is also much much cheaper on Amazon than in the stores.

I originally bought this to look for luminescent antique glass. Being a UV light it's also good when you need to clean up blood. I had a little accident with my wife. Long story short, she won't be needing a right shoe anytime soon. Anyhow, there was a lot of blood and I cleaned up most of it but after using the light I found I had missed a bunch. A gallon of bleach and 2 rolls of paper towel later, it was clean, all thanks to the HOPDAY handheld powerful UV flashlight.

I bought this because there was a head lice outbreak at my daughter's school. I can now see lint in her hair. I didn't see nits or lice with this light, but I did treat her hair (read online only live nits show under a black light). On an up note you can see where you haven't cleaned your bathroom or see where animals have had a potty accident, it did not show where a dog had vomited.
