Can't imagine what bottle it would open
Where do the positive reviews come from? I first tried this on a 12oz water bottle. I was concerned that it might not close down to small enough a diameter, but that was not the issue. It touched the lid but exerted no gripping force, simply spinning around. I then tried it on a large salsa jar. It made contact with this lid as well, but simply scraped off a little paint, not gripping enough to produce any detectable resistance to turning.

The Best Jar Opener!
I went to all kinds of specialty shops looking for this jar opener. My grandma had one when I was little and after developing arthritis, I could see why. I wanted one too but could not find one anywhere. People did not even understand what I was looking for; some tried to sell me a can opener. Where else would you find the unfindable but Amazon? I should have tried there first! This will work on just about any jar that will fit the "jaw" size. It adds extra torque to your twist. I needed it especially for beverage bottles. I usually just hand the bottle to my husband. No more. I have been able to get every jar open!

These work better than anything else I have tried
These work better than anything else I have tried. The older I get the tougher jar lids are getting. My only complaint is that on really stuck lids, the opener will dent the lid because it grips so hard. just means that on home canned jars, you cant reuse the lid on next years canning jars. No big deal compared to the advantage of getting the lid off in the first place

Amazon sells better solutions. Combine the EZ Off & the Kitchen Gripper and call it a day. They open jars easier & better.
This device damages the lid of the jar and moves your had away from the center of the lid. The EZ Off Jar Opener combined with the Kitchen Grippers device that holds the smaller jars and gives you more leverage can open just about any jar with minimal damage to the edge of the lid. This device is a "second best" solution that is cumbersome to use, sometimes doesn't work, and always damages the lid.

Doesn't work on cheap metal lids that dent
Bought it to open up a 3" wide jar of olive salad from Walmart. Maybe it is the fault of the canning company making their lids too thin, but all this thing did was make teeth marks into the metal lid and probably made the problem worse. I through the olive salad away. Not saying this thing won't work on stronger lids (I bought it because we had one in the house when I was kid in the 60s), but---just to let you know.

NO GRIP POWER...
Because I have strong hands, friends often ask me to open their hard-to-remove lids. Sometimes even I am unable to open a jar, etc., because a factory packing machine screwed on the lid with too much force. I thought this adjustable opener would be perfect in a pinch. Unfortunately, I tried to open many different sizes of lids with this opener and it did not work on any of them. In the description it mentioned "steel teeth" on the jaws that grip the lid. The two of them are, for whatever reason, slippery smooth and never grab the lid. Although I was sure it would work, I have returned it.

Tried and true design for over a century
This is the best jar opener you can buy! I lost my antique one to Hurricane Harvey and was thrilled to find this one!

Wonderful tool
I could hardly believe my eyes. Didn't think I would ever find this marvelous tool again. Don't mess with the undercounter ones that don't work. Buy one that does.
