It's a larger soldering tip, good for difficult solders where you need a lot of thermal mass in the tip to try to get the solder liquid (like soldering onto heatsinks, for example). I've put it through light use for about a month, and it stands up to high heat (over 800 degrees F) pretty well, but like most screwdriver tips, it's hard to keep the corners on the end from getting oxidized and gunky. So, if you do buy this, I would recommend also getting a tin of tip tinner (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BDOEUU/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i04?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to keep the end/corners clean.

Maybe it's unfair to rate a product on the single item I bought, but it was manufactured wrong. The electroplating left globs all over the tip, no way at all it could ever be used for soldering. Since I left it in the bag until I needed it, it was not a pleasant surprise and left me without the ability to do what I needed to do. It was so messed up I don't know how it passed quality control, would lead me to steer other people away from genuine weller/apex tips in the future. This may or may not be that they sold Apex to a different company so it's not the same as I remember. All I can say is don't count on getting a usable tip the first time.Also of note, I took the time to write a letter to Apex and sent the letter along with my bad tip and the receipt for the product. I gave them the opportunity to replace it, say it was fake, or anything. I sent it with a signature required, it was signed for, that was the end of the story, I never heard back from them. I sent an email inquiry and received something along the line of "We are not responsible for questions sent via mail"So, on top of a bad product, the company then failed to even answer a question about it. So, one star because Amazon won't let me give zero stars.

We had gone from PCA assembly to cabling assembly awhile ago BUT our soldering stations still had the ultra fine tips! This fit the requirements perfectly and at a good price.

They showed the wrong picture for the wrong solder in the original photo.

It is a good tip, but I thought I ordered the chisel tip in the first picture, it is the screwdriver tip in the second. The image should be corrected.
