Dog in Action: A Study of Anatomy and Locomotion As Applying to All Breeds

Invaluable Knowledge in One Book
One of the best books ever written on the structure and movement of the canine species. Anyone seriously involved in dog sports on ANY level owes it to themselves and any dogs that they will own in the future to buy, read and study this book. They will be richly rewarded. I read it more than 40 years ago, it was an immense help in my successful career in breeding top show dogs and I use this knowledge every day. I have given this book as gifts and as donations. Today we are fortunate we are fortunate to have video and other technological forms to help visualize the canine structure and movement but the hard copy form will never be replaced in value.

Excellent reference book.
Excellent reference book. This book was produced decades ago but the principles are still insightful. When dog breeds were developed the dogs were expected to perform a useful service and they needed to have a body that enabled them to carry out their task. Unfortunately much of the utilitarian structure of dog breeds has been lost as dogs are bred for the show ring and "just pets".

Priceless classic
I learned so much out of this book. Every part of the dogs structure is covered and the author adds a little humor.

Interesting book from the past
The fact that this book was first published in 1950 made me wonder if it would answer the questions I had about dog anatomy and foot structure. I'm beginning a domestic dog tracking project, and needed info on how canine structure affects movement and gaits. I'm pleased with my purchase. Although it's written in a somewhat annoying 1950's style, the info seems to be correct, and makes canine locomotion a bit easier to understand.

Wonderful read for the serious breeder and exhibitor.
This book is a product of the era in which it was written and carries some surprising (and a little offensive) stereotypes in the anecdotes the begin most chapters. Assuming you can overlook that, this is the best book contains the best explanations of how how structure effects function in the canine I have ever read - and I've read just about everything out there. This is a must for the serious breeder and conformation exhibitor.

Insomma
Speravo offrisse riferimenti migliori per quel che riguarda l'anatomia dei cani. Non del tutto inutile ma si può trovare di meglio.
