Farming Simulator 2014 for 3DS
I've never played a game in this franchise, but it appears there are several versions for various platforms. The 2014 version seems to be a stripped down version of 2013 adapted for mobile devices (3DS, PS Vita, iOS, Android). This review is for the 3DS version. The closest comparison would be the PS Vita version. The Android version may be cheaper, but contains the dreaded "in-app purchasing".This is a farming simulation, and that's pretty much what it is. You plant seeds and grow three basic crops. This is not a social game like Harvest Moon. This is a good game if you just want to drive tractors and manage how to most efficiently tend and sell your crops. When I say "tend", that's usually a matter of trying to schedule everything so you don't have any idle machinery. Once you plant and fertilize, you just play the waiting game. It's a fairly fun game with little depth. You can set it down and pick it up at will, watch TV or do other stuff while waiting for harvest time. As a sim, there's no ultimate goal, altho there are trophies for various deeds, things like how many hectares you've harvested. There are easy to finish timed missions, usually in the form of "find the lost something".There are a few things in the 3DS version which could be better addressed:It could use information on the types of equipment available. You're presented with the name of the equipment (Krone Big-X) but no idea what it's for. Have a device nearby with internet access so you can search the wiki's, which is almost mandatory.Hiring workers is nice, and allows you to move on to other tasks, but you do need to keep an eye on them. They'll get stuck on fences or rocks. When you want to sell a harvest, you have the manually drive to the point of interest. And let's not even talk about how hard it is to backup a tractor! Seems like it all these should be a matter of course to adapt the AI for these things.Cars are eye-candy and serve no purpose. Roads, too. You just drive the shortest route and traffic be damned. I like to park my tractors in the road to create massive road jams, which seem to periodically clear up automatically. You can bump into cars and force them off the road. Sometimes it's fun to play a bit of Mad Max with the cars, but they'll eventually get back on track. Maybe an option to disable traffic would be helpful. There is no multiplayer, StreetPass or SpotPass, but there is a Miiverse community. But in all seriousness, I'm not sure what they could present for those types of scenarios anyways.

Worst Nintendo Game I have ever ATTEMPTED to play. NO INSTRUCTIONS!
This game does not come with any instructions. It is very hard to learn, and very very boring. I am a patient person with an open mind, but I would never purchase this product again nor would I recommend it to anyone at any price. It's not even worth $5. I truly feel bad for those who purchased this product for children & teens as this is not even suitable for adults. Did I mention NO INSTRUCTIONS and HARD TO LEARN? ...And I have owned every Gameboy, DS, etc and many games.

Yes it is.
The title of this game says it all. It is a very good representation of the major day to day happenings on a farm. The DS version has slightly less than the PC version, ut still a good game. It has not been removed from the console since Christmas morning.

Great game but there is no instructions anywhere that can ...
Great game but there is no instructions that can help you learn how to play the game. It shows you can get milk from the cows but I can't figure out how to do it. There are other objects in the shop too like some kind of carrier to get cows or something I don't know how to do that either. The game should have better instructions.
