Compare/contrast review. (Updated)
EDIT: The side seam ended up being more annoying than I anticipated. It’s still not prohibitive, but I do notice it. They also loosen/bag out significantly more than the POKARLA brand does over the course of a day - it actually got loose enough on me to cause some chafing in areas unmentionable. I’m going to run them through the dryer a few times to see if it helps, but I had to take a star off for that.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I recently discovered this adorable pattern of high-waisted women’s briefs sold by a multitude of different companies on Amazon, and since then I’ve been hoarding them like a dragon. Most of the ones I own are from the POKARLA brand, but I noticed the grey/black QOVOQ briefs were on sale for $10 and figured they were worth a shot. If you’re anything like me, you spend hours comparing and contrasting different brands on Amazon before you make a purchasing decision, so I’m going to compare these to the POKARLA brand high-waisted briefs as those are the others I’ve tried.I’m plus-sized/curvy, “pear-shaped,” a touch over 200lbs, 37” waist 43” lower belly 48” hips. I bought the 3X in these based on the measurements given in the size chart, and it’s a good fit. (I like my underwear snug but not squeezing, since I’m fluffy and nobody likes looking tied up like a sausage.) It’s comparable to a 2X in the POKARLA brand.I really like them overall. The fabric is soft and the seams aren’t abrasive, even for my sensitive skin. The high rise is useful for me since I have a belly, so these don’t roll down much compared to other styles of underwear. The overall design and the rise are pretty much comparable to POKARLA. The main difference between these and POKARLA is that these are noticeably thinner (I think POKARLA uses two layers of fabric and these use one) and have a seam that runs up the waistband on the right side - not the left side, just the right. It’s mildly annoying, but not enough for me to take of a star for it. If you’re very sensitive to seams in your underwear, though, take note. Both brands have a gusset that is positioned about a half inch too far back. Doesn’t bother me much since they’re made of cotton anyways, but others may care.I’d recommend them overall.
