I got this book for my 4 year old daughter who can read some of the words in the book. She loves to learn about the planets a basic introduction to the planets.

A must-have for any little space lover
I am constantly trying to find ways to feed my 5 year old's love of space. He knows all the planets, many different aspects about each planet, their sizes, their moons, the notable stars, the black hole, comets, meteors, the ISS, you name it. I am amazed at his knowledge level and especially the fact that I didn't teach him any of it. The educational space videos on the Angry Birds space app deserve the credit for kicking off his knowledge and interest in space. I only came in later to supplement with reading materials and tangible visuals. Being an educator I understand the importance of taking advantage of children's love for learning. He is so welcoming of new scientific information that I would be amiss not to find various ways to entertain his brain with space facts.I purchased the National Geographic Kids First Big Book of Space (which is a book I wish I could give 10 stars - and I have a review on that page) and this Dr. Seuss book for Christmas. We have a deep love for Dr. Seuss in our home, and it just so happens that he and my son turned out to share the same birthday (random and useless fact :-). But I said that to say that my son also has a love for Dr. Seuss and feels like Dr. Seuss (whom he calls his friend) wrote all of his books just for him, LOL. The National Geographic book has vivid imagery, with the facts presented in more of an educational format with chapters, introductions, etc. so it is great for serious learning. This book (while not written by Seuss) follows in true Dr. Seuss fashion, with humor, fun words and phrases, creative rhymes, and laughable images. I like the mnemonics used to reinforce learning, though I was concerned about this because my son already knows the content and I did not want him to get confused. So far this has not been a problem. Even though the information is familiar, the Seuss-speak draws my son to this book day after day. It is one of his chosen books for bedtime reading. This book is creative, educational, accurate, and entertaining. Definitely a must-have for any little space lover.

Unique gift without breaking the pocket book.
I purchased this as a gift for my one year old nephew. He has EVERYTHING a spoiled 1 year old could ever POSSIBLY want. TYPICALLY IT'S A GIFT CARD "GIFT" for me, but wanted to do something different. Took a chance on this and added the Dr Suess Space book.... Such a hit!!! His 3 year old sister enjoys it too.(double whamie!!))) and she is learning to read to her little brother while viewing the Stars!!..above their heads!!!...so far so good.... yet we will see....

Dirty writing
Has a dirty mouth. On page 26 it was using remembering words to help remember the names to the planets, and it started off using people names and ended with up.....uranus.??? What!!! My son needless to say was uncomfortable with this combination. And I'm disappointed in the writer for not catching such a bad combo. Other than that book was good. Just can't get over such a bad slip up.

A PERFECT BLEND OF FUN AND EDUCATION - PERFECT FOR HOMESCHOOLING
The Cat in the Hat Learning Library books are fantastic! Each book is incredibly educational while also being fun and engaging. It’s a winning combination. I can not recommend them highly enough. We have bought nearly all of the books. Even though my younger daughter has aged past them, she insists we keep buying them and will not part with them. This is a bit of a bone of contention in my house, because my older daughter teaches and wants them in her classroom. Our compromise is that my older daughter sneaks out one book at a time on an as-needed basis - and brings it right back! Before you read these books, you should probably start with:The Cat in the HatThe Cat in the Hat Comes BackHere are the Cat in the Hat Learning Library books as of 11/26/19, in order of release date:Is a Camel a Mammal?: All About MammalsFine Feathered Friends: All About BirdsWish for a Fish: All About Sea CreaturesOh Say Can You Say Di-no-saur?: All About DinosaursOn Beyond Bugs: All About InsectsThere’s No Place Like Space!: All About Our Solar SystemOh Say Can You Seed?: All About Flowering PlantsOh the Things You Can Do That are Good for You!: All About Staying HealthyA Great Day for Pup: All About Wild BabiesThere’s a Map on My Lap!: All About MapsIf I Ran the Rainforest: All About Tropical RainforestsInside Your Outside!: All About the Human BodyOh Say Can You Say What’s the Weather Today: All About WeatherOh, the Pets You Can Get!: All About Our Animal FriendsClam-I-Am!: All About the BeachI Can name 50 Trees Today: All About TreesA Whale of a Tale: All About Porpoises, Dolphins, and WhalesMy Oh My - a Butterfly: All About ButterfliesOne Cent, Two Cents, Old Cent, New Cent: All About MoneyMiles and Miles of Reptiles: All About ReptilesWould You Rather Be a Pollywog: All About Pond LifeIce Is Nice: All About the North and South PolesWhy Oh Why are Deserts DrySafari, So Good!: All About African WildlifeIf I Ran the Dog Show: All About DogsIf I Ran the Horse Show: All About HorsesHark! Bought a few of these books as party bag stuffers for my sons astronaut theme party. I was very impressed with the book until I came across a sentence "up uranus" I guess the author was trying to be funny or something. My kids obviously are oblivious to what this means but i did not find this humourous at all and i feel bad that i gave the books out to other kids . If this is something that would bother you do not buy.

Great gift for a young space lover!
I bought this as a gift for a 5 year old. He absolutely loves it! He is just starting to learn about space and is very excited to learn more. He screamed at the top of his lungs when he opened this! I got a "great pick" from the dad. The short sentences are perfect for this little guy who is starting to read and recognizing small words. The length of the book is great because it's long enough to be a story but short enough to keep his attention to learn to read.

Disappointing
I was sold the old version. Pluto is not a planet any longer. There is an updated copy. Should not have been sold.

Great book in this range
Great book in the Cat in his Hat range for children. We are currently looking at space at school and this was a quirky book to lighten the sessions
