Heil Sound Boom C-Clamp for the PL2T and SB2

Looked solid, but...
I thought this Heil boom clamp looked like just the thing I needed to hold my mic boom arm. And while the clamp itself is sturdy and handsome, I think the screw/bolt is not beefy enough. To clamp it to my desk as tightly as I needed, the screw just bent out of shape and the rubber pad started to work its way loose. I gave up on this one and screwed a permanent base into the desk top.

Flawed Design
The C-clamp is poorly designed and struggles to adequately resist the bending moment created by the boom and microphone. Any design that places a threaded rod or bolt in bending is flawed, just look at any mechanical or structural engineering standard. After just a few months, the washer at the end of the threaded rod fell off and the taped rubberized backing broke-off from excessive bearing stress. After visiting Heil's website, under Support, there is a link for Repairs, but no links for Warranties. In fact, nowhere on their website do they offer or discuss the terms of their warranty - meaning a warranty may not exist. That significantly devalues their products - after spending hundreds of dollars on their equipment, I will not be a returning customer.

Broke almost right away
I got one with my PL2T. Within 5 minutes, it broke (see the picture attached). Seems like a pool design. If you are careful I'm sure it will work fine, but it you put too much stress on the arm, it will just snap. I'm going to try some 3rd party ones made from aluminum.

It will work for awhile and it will jus snap ...
It will work for awhile and it will jus snap on you. Not made well enough for the boom and mic.

Held up great...for a while!
Held up great for a few months, then randomly snapped one day - denting my microphone and breaking my pop filter in the process.

Looks good, but doesn't hold
I agree with everyone else. Looks well made, but it just didn't hold up. The screw eventually bent and now I am on the search for another way to attach this boom.
