Not plastic like others have mentioned.
I'm happy with these so far. I wanted toddler bowls that aren't plastic and that won't break if they drop them.II'd like to address what I read in other reviews:Some reviews stated these are not stainless steel determined by how light they are and by the fact that magnets won't stick to them. If these are, in fact, 200 type stainless steel bowls then they are a chrome-manganese metal. Chrome-manganese contains a very low percentage of nickel, such a small amount that magnets will not be attracted to it. It is considered safe and it has a lower amount of nickel than other food-grade stainless steel. However they are not nickel free like in 400 series stainless steel. Little to no nickel will leach into your food if you put hot food into these bowls. But baking with them at high temperatures will very likely ruin the bowls and leach nickle into your baked goods. This is why they are advertised as rice bowls and not cooking bowls or baking bowls. I think they are well suited for rice or soup or similar foods as the heat from the food does not reach the outer wall of the bowl because of the pocket of air inside the bowl. Perfect for little hands to handle as well. And way better than the type of chemicals and the amount of chemicals that would leach through if these were plastic. Which they are not.I also would not recommend putting them in a dishwasher and avoid storing food that contains citrus in it for long periods of time just to be on the cautious side.200 stainless steel is known to be light in weight and cheaper to manufacture due to it's low nickel content. So yes they are cheap. But mostly in price and not in quality.I did not give them five stars because I am skeptical by nature and there is no practical way of testing whether these bowls are 200 stainless steel or stainless steel coated. But either possibilities are better than plastic, so I'm satisfied.

Not stainless steel as far as I can tell, its almost a weird plastic material, I honestly dont know what the material is.I ended up using these for anything but food. The construction of them is odd also, there is a large hollow space between the top and the bottom. I guess that is their idea of double wall insulated.I should have paid closer attention to the pictures, lesson learned on my part.Would NEVER purchase again.

Nice Rice Bowls
I didn't realize these were rice bowls, or atleast appear to be rice bowls, when I purchased them. I purchased these for recipe prep, but they're bigger than what I wanted. However, they're great for serving rice in because the insulated design means you don't have to worry about burning your hands when eating heated rice. The initial cleaning process was a nightmare. There were stickers on the bowls that left a tenacious, sticky residue. I tried using vegetable oil, which helped some, but in the end I had to use a plastic putty knife to remove the remaining residue. The bowls also had a lead colored dust on them, possibly the result of the polishing process. The dust was a bit difficult to remove as well. Just washing the bowls in soap and hot water did not remove the dust. Using a paper towel and an all purpose cleaner (I use a homemade version) worked the best.

Your kitchen must have
There are 6 pieces of stainless steel light weight bowl set. it's very convenient while cooking. Of course they can be served on dinner table but the bowl will getting hot if you put hot food in it because it's metal. lol. Also it's easy to wash and clean and dishwash machine safe. Highly recommended.

Nice, lightweight bowl
These are very lightweight bowls. Not the the heavyweight stainless I was expecting, but they have grown on me. The only complaint I had with them was that they each came with a sticker on the bottom and it was very hard to remove. I had to soak each bowl, scrape the sticker off and use rubbing alcohol to remove the residue. This took about 15 minutes to do. Other than that they are great for my daughter to use, and I find myself reaching for them for food prep and my own daily use as well. A good buy for the price!

Ordered a Second Set
I liked these bowl so much that I ordered a second set. Dishes in my house tend to get broken easily, so I ordered these for their durability. I liked them so much that I quickly ordered a second set for their durability, practicality, and beauty. My only complaint is that they are so well insulated that it takes my soup a long time to cool enough so that I can eat it.I guess another problem is that they cannot be placed in a microwave, but I knew that before I ordered them.

THEY ARE PLASTIC, NOT STAINLESS STEAL!
If I could give this product a 0 stars, I WOULD!!! LIKE REALLY? I just received these bowls at my door a few minutes ago and let me inform you, THEY ARE NOT STAINLESS STEEL!!! THEY ARE MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC!! PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED LIKE I WAS... They are meant to look like stainless steal, here's a word of advice, anything that looks like it's shiny with an almost plastic sheen is NOT stainless steel! Save your $20 for a set of real stainless steel bowls. I will be reporting this seller to Amazon.

Not heavy gauge stainless, extremely light weight
These little bowls look nice but are suspiciously light in weight. I used Moo Goo, an oil, to remove the adhesive stickers on the bottom. The paper towel turned black when it reacted with the metal and oil. This stainless steel is not magnetic, apparently some types are not. They look sturdy and clean up nicely. They obviously do have an airspace so are double wall insulated as advertised. I would have preferred a heavier gauge of stainless steel, but otherwise these seem nice.
