Cisco CCNA in 60 Days

Better than the official cert guide!
I used the nothing but the official cert guide and pre-tests for the first time I tried taking the CCNA, and failed because there were questions on the exam that they never went over in the practice exams and questions in the official cert guide. This book is laid out so much better, and is a lot easier to comprehend the knowledge being given to you. It takes you in a step-by-step process and introduces new terms or concepts when they apply to the topic you are reading about instead of just being chapter after chapter about a specific topic. This guide has been way easier to digest than the cert guide, and even though they don't do the labs as part of the test anymore (at least not for the at-home test), the labs included in this book help cement the ideas and topic you covered in the chapter.Having hands on learning helps me a lot, and I am definitely feeling more confident for my second time of taking the exam.

Best materials yet
I purchased both the ccna simplified and the ccna in 60 days and honestly love both books. I settled on doing the ccna in 60 and using the simplified to fill in other stuff as well. These are the best materials for someone with net+ under their belt and want to do more labs to learn. His 101 labs book is also amazing once you adapt to the style.I give this a 4.9 stars, why the minus 0.1 because it could really use an end index to quick search when going back to fix weak areas. One bit of advice from an older adult with adhd, read the cram book every single day!Two thumbs up I would buy again.

Paul Browing to the Rescue
What a brilliant idea! I'm big on organization when it comes to just about everything. Breaking the studies for this exam down a day at a time and listing precisely what is needed for each day should help even the newest of network engineers.I have his other book as well - Cisco CCNA Simplified. It's not as intense as this book, but the intensity is what I like. I'm a computer geek so spending at least two hours a day studying and labbing isn't a chore for me. If it becomes a chore for you, you might be in the wrong field. You will be constantly learning throughout your career as a network engineer. You will be constantly troubleshooting and labbing throughout your career as a network engineer. If this bores you, it's not for you. I find this book to be a litmus test for many things.I like the idea of the Cram Guide to hammer away the most important items that one will use throughout their career and also those items most likely to appear on the exam in some form. I'd actually like to see more in the cram guide but that's just me.Why only four stars? I wish I could give 4.5, but there are a couple of things I'd like to see done differently. I like tech books that conclude their chapter with a list of additional resources for further studying. Paul sometimes mentions certain RFCs throughout the chapter. Perhaps also creating a list at the end of each chapter to assemble the resources all in one place. I'm the type of person who always needs to know what else. People who plan on taking the next step towards their CCNP and CCIE would especially benefit from the additional depth. Let me clarify though, this is not a bitter complaint. This book is extremely valuable without that. It's more of a suggestion to increase it's value. The other thing that threw me off was the exam topics at the beginning of the chapter. They didn't always match the organization of how Cisco listed them. Again, not a bitter complaint. Just something someone with OCD will notice. If you are interested in further studies, purchasing a subscription to his site will be exceedingly helpful. He covers dozens of other certification exams. I plan on continuing to use his site after I renew my CCNA. My goal is to become a CCIE. Possibly even earning more than one. We'll see. Thanks, Paul. You've made preparing for such an arduous exam that much easier.

Hands-On Practice Labs
I have three years of Quality assurance training as a subject matter expert evaluator for training products. This study guide is a handy tool for getting your CCNA. It’s well designed reading and hands-on practice labs, which help reinforce skills. I like how it tests your knowledge as you complete each day of study with a lab. I highly recommended this guide.

Certainly builds confidence!
I utilize many different mediums and techniques when it comes to learning skills. I have the official cert guides, taken CCNA focused classes while studying for my bachelors, cbt and Udemy videos, and even hands on practice at work but in 60 days gives me a tangible plan and road map which translates into confidence. I am actually starting to feel like I am ready to pass, not just hope to get by.

Expensive Compared to the OCG
I've been working through the book over the past week and I was surprised to see that for £37, everything is in black and white. Colour diagrams in black and white...for £37!Compare this to the OCG by Wendell Odom and you'll see what I mean.I do give three stars for concise explanations of topics and the layout being that very similar of the CCNA exam outline. It's annoying that he mentions that it's best for you to read a CompTIA Network+ book before undertaking the CCNA, something that's not expected from any other Author I've read, or any of the tutors online via Youtube or Udemy (the CompTIA Network+ guides average 800 pages). Maybe he's referring to completing that before attempting this 60 days book, but you could get the same amount of info from Wendell Odom's OCG with the CCNA as the main topic and the subtopics to match your learning.Unfortunately it's let down by the price and what I expected for almost a £40 book with the same amount of pages as the hardcover, colour OCG that's £10 cheaper! I wouldn't have cared so much about this issue except that there are pictures in the book where the author's explanation of colours in the diagrams would be more understandable if they weren't different shades of grey.Like I've said, it's very helpful and it can clear a few confusing aspects up.A smaller niggle that I've noticed in the author's notes and website links is that his conversational tone is quite arrogant. But people are different and it's not a big deal to me.

Please add index in the end of the book. It's inconvenient when you want to review a knowledge point and you couldn't find which page is it.
