Queen of the Ring: Wrestling Drawings by Jaime Hernadez

Covers totally different from stock image 8/4/21
Something like a sketchbook; felt tip pen drawings colored with colored pencils.my main gripes with this book is that the covers aren't what was advertised in the Amazon stock image (as of 8/4/21) and that many of the drawings are too small (would have preferred if they turned some images to the side so they could take up the entire page properly)The text is very minimal; just some occasional commentary from Jaime. Only get this if you're a big fan of Jaime's art.

Fantastic Art Book
I will note that the cover is different from the stock image, but I love the look and feel anyway. This book collects 30 years of Hernandez’s lady wrestling artwork, the majority of which is designed to look like photos and pin-ups from classic wrestling magazines I wish had existed. Great presentation and quality - an amazing book for fans of women’s wrestling!

so beautiful
Xaime is incredible. It feels like I am looking through thoae most awesome wrestling magazines from Mexico. Captures the feel of a slice of life of living in 70s South Texas and California and definitely Mexican Sunday afternoons. Gracias!!!!

Master artist
Xaime really shows off his skills here -not that they’re not always present anyway- but somehow he exceeds expectations even more by showing the differences in the female figure by subtle changing them through the years and he makes it look so damn good. It’s one thing I’ve always admired about it his art and even his writing. He knows how to do women!Highly recommend this

I love this book!
I've been a fan of Love & Rockets almost since the beginning and I find it amazing that Jaime had time to devote to a bunch of drawings that he seems to have done for himself, with no intention of having them published. I won't speculate about his fascination with big women wrestlers--I'm guessing it's not as a creepy as R. Crumb's obsession with big women... regardless his skill with rendering the female form is in full display in this book. Another bonus is the printing. Using techniques pioneered with the Jaime Hernandez Studio Edition, the scans are very revealing--the blacks, which would normally be just 100% black, show the subtly varying shades of black from his brushwork filling in the shadow areas. I love the fictitious wrestling magazine covers. At first I though they were base on real covers--maybe they are--but I couldn't find anything like them by Googling. This book will be returned to again and again. The only thing I'm confused about is the cover of my book is different from the cover shown.

It's Hernandez so you know it's good
Fun insight to one of the great American illustrators and his interest in female wrestling. Great art

Fans of Pro Wrestling MAY like this book
This book contains about 300 impressive drawings of fictional women wrestlers. About half are in colour. As a fan of traditional pro wrestling I like these drawings. All the ladies are attired in one piece swimsuits which reveal superlative physiques. The strength in their thighs is particularly striking. All the ladies are superfit and none are overweight. The text which accompanies these drawings is brief, but emphasizes the barbarity of women who are paid to entertain us with their brutalityI do however have reservations about the book as a whole. Some of the drawings are (very) small. Worse, some of the (relatively few) captions to the drawings are so small that I need a magnifying glass to read them! But my main complaint is that about half of the drawings are not action shots. They are ‘static’ – the ladies depicted are not fighting but just stood facing us. I would have much preferred more drawings of members of the (allegedly) weaker and gentler sex using their outstanding strength to inflict great pain.
