Soooo many good things packed in this facial cleanser......makes me break my price rule!!
Alright, 50 year old skin is what I deal with on the daily and pretty much the ONLY thing I did for my skin for the first 48 years was wash it with a facial cleanser (and NOT a spendy one). I tend to have staples in my skincare routine, but one of the places that I'm always trying new things is in the cleanse area. I do a double cleanse and I have some pretty firm opinions on both balms/oils and cleansers. One of the problems my brain has with the whole cleanser thing is paying a boatload of $$$ for something I'm literally washing down the drain. Here's what I'm looking for in a cleanser. It needs to clean my skin of any residual makeup leftover from the balm or oil (and also any residue left by said balm or oil), it needs to be free of oils if I'm using it as a daily cleanser, it needs to moisturize or hydrate without leaving behind a weird residue or anything that resembles an oil slick, and it needs to NOT strip my face while doing all of that. Oh, and it can't cost an obscene amount of money cause, yeah.....that brain thing. So the Dermaclara does ALL of that (I'll talk about price at the end) and it also feels super luxe and has this scent that I've become somewhat obsessed with. The consistency is very rich and creamy right out of the bottle and a little goes a LONG WAY (keep that in mind when it comes to price). At first it reminded me of my It Confidence In A Cleanser; same consistency and very similar scent. The difference is in the way this leaves my skin afterwards. This leaves me with skin that feels hydrated, NOT oily or lotioney (that should so be a word) and since it contains no oils I can immediately use my NuFace with no problems. My skin doesn't feel stripped, dry, tight, or anything close to it. It's real hydration, not the faux hydration most companies try to pass off by loading a bunch of oils into a product and calling it "moisturized"......there is a very real difference, in my opinion. That leaves the whole collagen thing. For me, that's just gimmicky and completely unnecessary. Collagen (topical or as a supplement) is one of those things that has no absolutely no science behind the claims that cosmetic/skincare/supplement companies are making. Plus it's just not on the skin long enough as a topical agent to have any real effect when you're washing it off within literally seconds of applying it.So price....my brain is okay with paying the price for this and here's why: you get 5 ounces in the bottle. In my regular cleansers I get around 6 oz. and pay just under $10. However, I use 3-4 pumps to wash my face, neck and chest. With the Dermaclara I use 1/2 a pump. Yep. Not even a full pump. A bottle of this lasts me for months. Granted, I'm just using it during my nighttime cleanse, but even twice a day the price would still work for my crazy brain. So a really long review to say yeah, it's amazing and my goofy brain is on board.

Basic, Gentle Creamy Cleanser
This is my first time using something from Dermaclara. The Claraprep Hydrating Cream Cleanser, per the claims, is supposed to restore your complexion, exfoliating the skin to unclog pores and the like. It's intended to be hydrating and gentle; for all skin types. The cream cleanser comes in a 5oz pump (safety-sealed in perforated plastic). You only need a pump or two, and it dispenses in a light-weight, opalescent cream. Not runny or messy. It is oil-free. However, it does have added fragrance. It isn't unpleasant or medicinal. The scent is mild and does not linger. The ingredients in the creamy formulation are as follows: Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Stearic Acid, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycol Distearate, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Titanium Dioxide, Potassium Sorbate, Menthol, Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Nitrate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA.I'm surprised and disappointed this has menthol. The first ingredient, myristic acid, is a saturated fatty acid commonly found in facial cleansers because of its ability to gently wash away oils. It also helps keep skin hydrated and youthful in appearance, like most fatty acids. Glycerin is a humectant, a type of moisturizing agent that pulls water into the outer layer of your skin from deeper levels of your skin and the air. In skincare, glycerin is used with occlusives, another type of moisturizing agent, to trap the moisture that it draws into the skin. Methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone are antibacterial and antifungal preservatives. Disodium EDTA, a chelating agent.I'm not going to define everything formulated in this wash. Sufficit to say, this is a no-frills, gentle wash. I have mature, sensitive skin and did not have any unpleasant reactions while using this wash.Overall, this creamy, non-drying inexpensive face wash. Would I get it again? I like the experience of using it. The scent isn't overpowering or unpleasant. The texture is soft and creamy. My skin doesn't feel taught or dry after. A little goes a long way. It is inexpensive for 5oz.I'd give it a 4 out of 5 and likely get it again.

Dermaclara cream cleanser
Dermaclara cream cleanserI think this is the first cream cleanser I've ever actually liked. Dermaclara is a new-to-me brand, so im still trying to figure out what kind of brand they actually are. But so far, the products I've tried from Dermaclara have been great! This cream cleanser does a really nice job of makeup removing (bear in mind I don't wear water proof makeup). And it leaves my skin feeling oh so soft. Nothing worse than a cleanser that straps your face making it feel tight and dry. This cleanser is nothing like that. Its expensive as far as cleansers go, but I can't help myself, I like it 🙃
