Has some thought-provoking information / problematic writing style to say the least.
The first third of the book are authors reflections on her strategies in helping dying children through their "unfinished business." I have never read about hospice stories and this was a good introduction. The rest of the book is about her NDE research. She mentions a few details about the research but most of the book makes claims like "human beings were given conscious choice 7 million years ago" and "human beings are a 45 million year old species." There were interesting claims about the afterlife, the nature of evil, and earthly suffering. Some of which resonated with me. But she also had moments when she claimed one view (religious figures in NDEs are just personal cultural backdrops) and reversed the same view later (Jesus is the real deal). Mostly why I give the book two stars is due to the berating tone and the self-congratulatory attitude throughout. Someone whose spent all this time helping the dying and learning from the the mentally ill should have more kindness and patience (The tone of the book felt like you were being lectured.) Maybe the author has a very direct, black or white personality style. Regardless, she has a serious lack of humility (read about her responses to her own spiritual experiences). The best thing I can say about this book is it opens up the topic of dying and gives you a rough road map on how to approach and process it.

A 'must read' for everyone
Death is inevitable for all of us. Yet, we fear it and are helpless in helping those we love transition from this life. This book is a focused compilation of Kubler-Ross's lectures. The wisdom is far reaching, and her teachings are based on sound clinical practices.Everyone should read this book.

Very Helpful
Any book written by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross is extraordinary, and this book proves it. If you have questions about death, this isa great book to read. Perhaps you know someone who has a relative or friend suffering from a terminal illness and they are having a difficult time coping with what they know is to happen, this would be a good book to give your friend before their loved one passes on. Her books are always so comforting and they truly help us to live better lives while we are here. Anything by EKR is a excellent read and very helpful.

a guide to help understand "the journey"
this book was given to me by the funeral director that took care of my husband when he died. It was a very comforting book that helped me understand about one's own journey. I have since passed it on to a few of my friends who have had similar experiences. I will continue to purchase it for friends who I think would benefit from reading it.
