The Nano-Reef Handbook

Class in session. Yikes!
Nice book layout with information tables and photos however it is writen like a egg headed professor teaching a course who forgets the room has students with limited experience of the subject matter. I would have preferred if each technical or industry term used was defined in layman' terms during the conversation. Sure I can figure it out from context or look up words in a dictionary but I bought the book to get clarity on the subject and not as an educational exercise. Good teachers know how to simplify with ease. Also there is redundancy in information possibly to stresss a point or perhaps just to fill pages. I'll continue to read it but sure hope there is an easier read on the subject somewhere. Read some chapters aloud to my mom who seemed to enjoy it. She is a retired high school biology teacher. Need I say more?

Not a bad first reference, but definitely out of date for 2019
It's a good starting point for someone who doesn't know a lot about aquarium basics or saltwater, but my reason for not giving a higher review is due to the book being incredibly out of date regarding equipment options that most recommend at this point for beginners. Other than that it's a pretty comprehensive reference for reef keeping.

Extremely informative. Very scholarly. I took notes like he suggested. Makes me much more confident in starting a Saltwater aquarium.I would recommend this to anyone who is a fish husbandry enthusiast.

A very useful book
After doing a lot of research online I found that this book tied up a lot of loose ends as the information I found online for free was fragmented at best. All my questions and curiosities on nano reef keeping were answered within the one text. Highly recommended, with an abundance of detailed information that can be applied to general and multipurpose reef applications.

Great book
This is a awesome book with great detail and still not getting too technical . It covers the basic set up for novice to expert level for the advanced reader.

A must read!
This book is a must read for any beginner or advanced Nano Reef aquarist. It clearly explains how to set up and maintain a perfect reef. It also has a great comprehensive list of suggested fish, invert and coral for nano reef. I refer to this book quite often to answer my questions.

Very informative
While I wouldn't say this is the only book you should read when getting ready to start a reef tank I would say this should definitely be on the list it has lots of information that coincides with what others say and still has its own personnel twist

Useful overall.
This is a well organised book with sections on the important aspects of starting and maintaining a nano reef aquarium from scratch. It has a lot of detail and will be very useful I'm sure for the budding marine aquarist. However I think a few will be put off by the detail in the first few pages of the composition of sea water of most elements of the periodic table. Surely would have been better in an appendix at the end.The book is nicely illustrated but could do with more organisation here. Finally, readers in the UK should be aware of the fact it is written pimarily for the American audience so there is a problem converting American gallons to litres and even some obvious mistakes.Overall however a useful book.

Nano-Reef Handbook
A better title would be "Nano-Reef For Beginners Handbook".A little too much info for anyone who has experience keeping a reef tank.Even so, the book is well presented & leaves little untouched.

Not written for the newcomer to marine keeping.
The dimensions of the book make it awkward to handle comfortably, and the content on water quality in particular, is written in such a way suggests you may need a chemistry degree to fully understand.
