Hygge and Lagom methods of living
Hygge and Lagom: The Ultimate Guide to Scandinavian Ways of Living a Balanced Life Filled with Coziness and Happiness by Barbara HaydenFirst book talks about what Hygge is.Danish art of coziness and happiness and how you can adapt it in your lifestyle. There are so many practical chapters about foods, clothing, customs, tradition, even crafts.Second part is about the Swedish part is about how to be happy and fulfill life.Has much of what the first book contains with same outcome but differences as well.Found the books interesting as I have heard about these before and have seen how Danish life, even in Vikings days of having a big great room for all to congregate.

Hard to believe these are by the same person
Hygge was ok, with some nice ideas. Lagom was flat, redundant, rather poorly written, and badly edited. I split the difference with my rating.

Easy read, with some nice background, but SO MANY grammar mistakes and editing errors
It's a nice, simple read, giving you some basics about a hygge life/lifestyle. Unfortunately, there are so many spelling and grammar mistakes (or editing misses), that it's hard to believe this book was written and produced with care and accuracy. So many of the mistakes could have easily been corrected.

Very nice
I am familiar with hygge, lagom was new to me. I find the two of them go together very well and this book made it easy to understand the concept and incorporate them into everyday life.Very informative and inspiring.

Good read but -
Likes: great concepts, wanted to implement right away.Dislikes: several errors that could have been fixed by editing. Grammatical errors get worse toward the end of the second book and are hard to ignore.

Tea in hand, wrapped in a blanket, good read.
I requested a copy of these books to give my honest review which is:Hygge is a refreshing and all encompassing look at what hygge is and why it is important. I particularly enjoyed the dive into the culture of hygge and how the origin country really supports this lifestyle in many ways. It is a thorough piece on how to hygge up your life, from wardrobe to recipes, home and crafts, relationships and how to approach them and so much more. I appreciated that there were even plant based dishes offered as a selection. Hygge is more than just candles and a cozy blanket, but those are a good start along with this book!Lagom is a great follow up book to read after hygge, speaking on balanced life. I feel like it is best described as the “just right” concept in the story red riding hood and the three bears. This book goes over why balance is important mentally, physically, financially, during holidays, travel, and in relationships to include those with the family pet! It was a fun and fast read with good information on the basics of finding that happy sweet spot in the middle of minimalism and excess. From how to gain a more functional wardrobe to how we enjoy our meals every day, this book has a little bit of advice for every aspect of your life. I am only giving 4 stars because the amount of editing errors in Lagom was numerous, making it a less smooth read.

Amazing and grounded about how to adopt this kind of lifestyle
This book is amazing and I’m gonna read it more than twice! It’s very grounded of how to implement this lifestyle to your life without moving from your country or getting expensive stuff! It even has a chapter about parenting and I loved it! Highly recommended!

Part 1 Hygge 3*; Part 2 Lagom 1* - very poorly written
Part 1 was fine, but although it gave a lovely explanation of why the Danes are so happy & how wonderful a typical Danish day may be, I was left feeling slightly despondent because most of us cannot simply pop off to a cafe in the middle of the afternoon or cycle to work, etc etc. I also found sections of this book to be little short of a shopping list for items like scarfs for all seasons, despite the author's assertions that Hygge is a mindset rather than a consumer driven lifestyle. Overall though, Part 1 was easy to read with some nice ideas around relaxing & being more mindful.Part 2, however, is a completely different story. This standard of English in this part of the book was very poor, many sentences did not make sense, the phrasing was clumsy & much of the text is redundant. The constant use of the future tense to present facts was also irritating. The writing here does not appear to have been proofread, let alone passed scrutiny by an editor before publishing. It was so badly written that it was very difficult to seriously consider the content being presented. Ultimately, this part of the book was extremely disappointing and uninformative, mainly due to the quality of the writing.

A quick guide to a happy, humble and simpler life.
Simplicity, humbleness, gratitude and calm. This is what I’ve got from this book. I love the reminders and messages it has to remind us to prioritise being happy and in the moment. It has tips and teachings about how to be unaffected by the rat race and commercialism that surrounds us. It’s a fast read and time well spent to make positive changes and simplify our way of living.
