Works surprisingly well, samples can trigger extremely quick if desired
I installed this in a Eurorack modular system and 3D printed a panel that I put 16 input jacks and 2 output jacks. I wired an LED (and resistor) to each input so it shows when each channel is being triggered. You can use the built in headphone jack for stereo output or use the line out, it's very flexible. Speaking of flexible, it works with a range of voltages and you can do so much with samples. It's programmable so if I wanted to do 14 inputs and have an up and down button to access more sample files, I can do that easily and have thousands of wav files on one memory card.WAV files need to be in a certain format, more info is available on the manufacturer website, I forgot the exact specifications but you can use a free program like Audacity to convert files if needed. Samples can be long, like an hour long, or they can be extremely short like a snare drum. I tested this out with an extremely fast drum beat and it responds well to trigger signals with no missed triggers. It does not do well with longer (and higher voltage) gate signals. I am still trying to figure out why but the LED lights up (since it sees the signal) but the processor doesn't do well with longer gates. A very short gate might work. This is just regarding 5V Eurorack signals. You can just close the circuit and trigger the files using buttons, a little keyboard, or whatever.Overall, an extremely versatile and useful sample player. For people that like to make repetitive analog drum sounds, this is an easy way to sample them and free up some modules for other things. Sound quality is pretty good. There are just 2 outputs for L and R but you could theoretically have a stereo sample with different sounds panned left and right to get 2 sounds from each sample. No issues at all, very happy with the WAV trigger.

Fantastic for DIY audio triggering!
I've built a couple sound triggers for live performance which double as the between sets music player. Very easy to do this... Very reliable. I bet the folks complaining about them not working are using incorrect polarity on the power supply. The jack on the board is center positive, unlike guitar pedals which are center negative. Can't just plug in any old power supply you have laying around.

Great Product.
I have purchased 9 of these units so far. They all worked right out of the box. I power mine with 5V into solder pads on the side of the board. There is a solder jumper you have to create to use this 5v solder pad as power. I have tried other players. This is the only one I found that doesn't delay between commanding a file and playing it. Easy to use. Polyphonic works great. Try the example on the manuf site first - using an Arduino. Modify from there.

Works for YEARS without a problem!
Really versatile- we use them all the time in animatronics

Polyphony, what more do you want?
Just what my project needed! I wanted to recreate a movie scene using plastic models, LEDs and sounds. I chose the Hoth sceen from Empire Strikes Back, and with this card the sounds are layered on top of each other perfectly. It's a bit pricey, but you do get proper polyphony. I am dropping a star as I have had some power and heat issues that I felt weren't addressed properly in the how-tos and documentation. This just popped up during prototyping and won't be an issue in my final setup as I will power it using 5V rather than the hight voltage barrel connector.

This is amazing!
I have heard great things about this board in the electronics community and now that I've used it I myself can say it truly is amazing. Concerning all of the reviews that claim it was dead on arrival, all I have to say is those people probably did not know how to use the board. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the instructional guide on the Sparkfun as well as robertsonics website.

An expensive roll of the dice
I have no doubt that both the good reviews and bad reviews of this product are accurate. I have many years of electronics hardware and computer programming experience and figured this product would a be a fun break from circuit design. I carefully soldered the female headers, read the website instructions and added files to the sd card. Only a high pitched squeal was emitted from the board. I tried labeling uncompressed wav file track 1 as 001 and then as 0001 as both are stated to be acceptable. Alas, same result. I tried changing the trigger format from input pulldown to 5v high. Again, no sound other than squealing. I tried the stereo audio amp output and I also tried the speaker output which I'd soldered headers to. No dice. I can only infer that this board is cheaply manufactured and about half are duds. You can take your chances, but it's kind of an expensive gamble. I wouldn't recommend it.

WAV Trigger - Trident Pinball Mod - Fun addition, great sounds.
Product is great. Awesome add for completing the Trident 2020 pinball project. Company needs to ship in box and not a bubble mailer !

geniales Board
