Trooper: The Heartwarming Story of the Bobcat Who Became Part of My Family

Loved this book and passed it on to my brother. Anyone who has a cat will love this story.

The book was a "cosy" read. Very heartwarming. Being a cat lover myself it resonated, especially when Trooper had to be put down.

Bought this for my 92-year-old Mom who is a critter lover, and she LOVED the book. Even though it was more than a one-day read, she read it cover to cover. There are no pix, either, so the content had to keep her engaged, and it did.

One of my favorite reads about wild animals from the unique perspective of the man who adopted and was adopted by a bobcat. I enjoyed his explanations of bobcat behavior and his first hand stories of life with Trooper. The reader doesn’t know what to expect next when Trooper experiences new adventures or other animals. The story of Trooper’s evolution is gripping and entertaining. I especially like how Trooper shared his food and water with “new friends.” Great read for animal lovers.

This book was chosen for our animal themed bookclub @larissawohl. It's a heartwarming story about an injured bobcat kitten who is rescued and raised by a most kind hearted.man. It is suitable for ages 8 and up. Highly recommended.

A truly interesting and enjoyable book for people who like animals. Learned a great deal about bobcats. A once in a lifetime experience for the writer who lets the readers go along on the journey. Have been loaning it out to all my animal loving friends.

First, I want to thank you for such a heartwarming adventure of your life with a special friend. Whenever I had to stop reading it saddened me because wanted so much to continue with the adventure to see what Trooper was going to do next.I chose my 5 star rating because the story became such a reality for me. I felt like I was watching this as it all took place.I love animals and have had a few that were extra special to me as I've grown up and loved the special bond between Johnson and his rescued cat. Also the almost human way Trooper took things in to understand and contemplated how he was going to respond to things and his gentle way about not killing, which would've not been so unnatural for him to have done in the wild, yet chose not to unless necessary. His desire to love and give the benefit of dought to other creatures he met. Just a wonderful review of a lifetime of joy and heartache at the end. My cat lived eighteen years until his health required the same end as Troopers. I can and do sympathize with Johnson.

This is one of those books that you know how it must end but you can't stop reading it. Having been around baby Bobcats as a volunteer in a animal rehab center, I know how absolutely adorable they are. But I also know how much better off Bobcats are when returned to a wild habitat. That is, most Bobcats. Trooper was definitely an exception but the fact that he wasn't confined, wasn't forced into domesticity and was allowed free roaming in his natural desert habitat made Johnson and Trooper's relationship possible. What a wonderful relationship it was! Many people, me, included, would love to have such a relationship with a "wild" cat! The memories they built will always remain with Mr. Johnson and I am so glad that he found it in his heart to share this wonderful story with so many readers. If you love animals, especially the wild ones, don't miss this book. Like Trooper, the book is exceptional!

So nice to follow the life of this young cat into adulthood, the joy he got out of life, still into old age . It was sad to say goodbye but old age creeps up on all of us.

Trooper was very much a baby when Johnson found him in a cactus he was using for protection after Coyotes appeared to have killed his mother and littermates.And so an adventure began for this amazing duo. Humans on meeting Trooper were never sure of the Bobcat kitten however he continued to surprise even those around him in a beautifully positive way. l would Highly Recommend this book to Anyone and Everyone as it is written so well as to be thoroughly entertaining.R.I.P Trooper, you were one in a million! 🌹💜😻🐾🙏

I found this story intriguing in the way it investigates how bobcats live, communicate and understand other species. I had a few concerns about occasions when the author seemed to drift into fantasy
