Well i was looking to replace a couple of lace hooks for my boots and came across this set. Biggest mistake ever, the retaining ring for the hook is so thin that it just sinks through the leather and pops out the third time you lace up your boots. There's a reason they give you 25 hooks, its because you'll be replacing them every other day. This is more for an arts and crafts sort of thing and not for everyday use work boots.

This product works as described, but the washer side of the rivet is a little small and the tapered center pin of the tool could be a little wider to facilitate a better flattening of the clasp to the washer. I was able to accomplish but i am not certain the speed hook will stay in place due to the amount of overlap between the two parts.

They work but they are very light duty. And the backing rings are so thin you have to be careful handling them when you put them on. Probably ok for light duty shoes where the laces are mostly for looks rather than something like a hiking boot.

They were not deep enough to go through 2 layers of leather on my boots. Nothing sticking through to peen over to fasten. Couldn't use them. Prob fine for thinner materials.

Worked out perfectly, I needed new larger speed hooks on a older pair of Allen Edmonds dress boots. Cobbler wanted $120, I laughed and walked out ordered this and did it myself within an hour.

I fixed the boot with this, and it seemed great, until the wearer pulled on the bootstring and pulled the whole thing through the hole. I need a bigger washer part to reinforce the hooks.

Rings are very very thin and flimsy. The hook shaft part is too short to make it thru heavy duty hiking boots making them unusable for them.

I have seen this tool elsewhwere for a lot more money. This did the job putting hooks on my boots.
