I have two Newfoundland mix dogs, so I have used a huge variety of grooming tools. In the end, this ended up being one of my three go-to's and my only go-to for removing mats.If you have a dog with fur that mats, you should order this. Don't bother with cheaper alternatives.

I have a ragdoll cat with major matting tendencies. Figuring out the right de-matt tool has been a painfully expensive learning curve for me. I tried all different styles. Tried this one in the 2 then 19 then 4 blade style.Pros:1) My cat still doesn't like these rakes but does allow me to use it. When she bats at it, the top side is the safest design to not hurt her. I tried the other totally exposed mechanics and blade looking rakes and she was both more terrified and it seemed more dangerous for her to fight with it with all the parts exposed.2) Able to use left or right hand to get all the right angles. I tried other styles that were right only. Some you had to unscrew to flip hands/angles. Some were made for easy flip but reviews said would pop out at the wrong moments.3) Sharp blades. Others had quite dull or smaller cutting areas.4) Does not aggravate my nickel allergies. Passed home testing kit check.Cons:1) Bit pricey considering probably have to change it somewhat frequently as the blades dull.2) No idea what benefit the 2 and 19 have. 2 seems to have no real benefit --- even underarm nooks and crannies the 4 will work as well or better. 19 blades were useless for long hair matts --- couldn't get it into the matted fur with the blades that close.

This Grooming Tool works great! I have two Maine Coon cats who have a lot of fur that sheds a lot and gets matted sometimes. This tool is very easy to use and my cats don't mind me brushing them, as long as I don't over do it. The only problem is that I noticed a rust spot on the metal part. I wash the tool under running water every time after using it. I can see that this can become a problem and I will need a replacement.If this is the case, I will look for another solution.

I am a professional dog groomer and this is amazing! I do a lot of goldendoodles and labradoodles and this breezes through Matt's, it's unbelievable! I bought two and I'm so glad that I did! Well worth money as it sure cuts down time getting through that thick hair. Thank you Mars!

This tool is lightweight, easy to handle and easy to remove the fur from the teeth. Since it has only 2 teeth my fur babies love to have their neck and lower chin scritched as well as their back and sides! Great at loosening the deeper layers of fur to prevent future tangles.

This is perfect for those undercoat mats on your long-hair dog's side where they lie and the skin is so sensitive to pulling. I love this tool.

This Coat King shreds mats like crazy... ONE WARNING: Use a glove on the hand as this is really sharp and will shred you easily... won't hurt your pet.

This tool works. You can control the pulling that detanglers with more blades are prone to. My dog looks like a tibetan terrier with a thick undercoat and long guard hairs. Her mats are really difficult to control. She will tolerate this.
