ThorneVetPhytoprofenVET – Inflammatory Support for Dogs, Cats & Horses, 60 Soft Chews

I had been giving my dog PhytoprophenVet in the original capsule form for many years. It was working well but had become unavailable for some time. Finding this soft chew was such a relief! Same great product in a tasty chew. My dog loves it and I’m quite happy with how it continues to keep inflammation under control.

I bought this to replace curcuvet sa-50 sprinkle caps, which has been discontinued and which we gave for years to our 2 cats. First off, the chews stink. The odor is very, very strong, with an overwhelming chemical smell. The cats refused to eat them. Repeatedly. The chews are also humongous...there is no way a cat could eat a whole one. I tried dividing in half, and breaking down further into tiny bits and strategically placed (hidden) in their food. Nope. Cats wouldn't touch these, no matter what, even when disguised in their favorite food. Also, these had over double the dosage of curcuvet than the sa-50 caps had. That seemed really excessive to me. I generally find that any supplement that's formulated for dogs and horses, usually won't be tolerated by a cat. These seem to be made for dogs and horses, and not really appropriate for cats at all...taste, smell, size, dosing...all wrong for cats. So disappointing. I loved the previous Thorne pet line, but not sure about the new company. Sending the tub back, and buying a brand made just for cats.

My JRT’s are doing much better since I started them on the product. It was recommended by a friend who uses the product on horses and dogs!!
