Sauder Harbor View Lateral File, Antiqued White finish

Update - 1+ year later, 7 months with a 50lb printer on it...This printer stand is fantastic, and is possibly the best piece in the Sauder Harbor View I have yet purchased. (3 pieces right now, #4 coming soon). A heavy laser writer printer has been sitting on it for the last 7 months, and stand has held up great. Super happy with this piece of furniture.This was the first Sauder Harbor View piece I ordered and it very nice. Larger then I expected. Lots of hanging file folder space. Deep shelves, which can be adjusted up and down. Very soon I will actually be putting a large, color laserwriter printer on here (upwards of 50 pounds), and turning this into a print and device charging station.This is a very sturdy cabinet. It took an afternoon to assemble, and so far it's my favorite piece of the Harbor View Set. It's a touch higher then the desk / hutch piece, which might bother some people. Personally, I do not mind. When I got this first piece, I was very pleased to see that the color was true to the photos. What a relief, as this finish was exactly what I wanted and I was scared it would be too dark or too white. It's actually perfect!This piece is a little easier to build then other pieces from the set, mostly because there are way less actual pieces to assemble. This and the entire Sauder Harbor View set are self-assembly. Sauder is a good brand who really do their best to make it easy to assemble their furniture. If you can read the assembly instructions and don't rush through it fast, you will be surprised how nice these pieces can be.I currently have 3 pieces of this set, and will be ordering more in the coming months.

Happy with the quality and the value. The best instructions I've ever seen, very detailed with great illustrations, easy to follow. Better allocate a few hours, though, lots of parts to put together. I liked the way everything fit together and I managed to do everything correctly the first time without having to take anything apart. Very heavy duty, though I think you will need something heavy on the top to weight the unit down; if you pull out the file drawer all the way and it is loaded with files, it might tilt the whole unit forward. Buyers should be aware that the color isn't really an antique white, it's more like a beige .... the antique part must be referring to the places where the paint is thin and you can see some sort of wood grain peeking thru. This doesn't look great, but what the heck it's only for the office, and if I were using it in a more high profile location I might consider paining it.

An excellent piece of furniture. Once assembled this cabinet feels like a quality product. While the cabinet looks and feels like real wood, it is actually a manufactured wood/plywood type product with a nicely done layer of wood laminate that makes it feel like thick real wood. Very well done effect for a particle board product. I find it to be much more solid and better looking than similar swedish particle board products, of which I have owned many over the last decade.The cabinet is heavy and very solid. Assembly is fairly difficult compared to swedish products, it took me about four hours, but it is worth it. The instructions are straight forward and well written and devoid of odd comic characters. If you like or have no other choice but to buy assemble-it-yourself furniture, this is excellent quality, especially for the price, which I found to be cheaper than Swedish. The one I received was also made in the United States.

I received the item quickly. I inspected the box. Was not damaged so I left it in the garage with everything else I was replacing from some water damage. After the new floors were put in I started to assemble the furniture stored in the garage. When I opened this filing cabinet, a corner was broken off from the top and the front of the file drawer was in two pieces. The color (cream) was streaked with tan. Looked like dirt had been flung on it. I contacted Plumstruck (the originator, part of Wayfair). They said I was one day over the limit for returns and would not do anything. Poorest customer service ever. Now all I can do is throw it out and swallow the money I paid. Hope Plumstruck and Wayfairenjoy their profit.

Beautiful and really heavy duty. Did I say it is heavy too! I was able to put it together in a bout 4 hours (have your hubby do it) not rushing or on any time clock. When you pull out the sliding drawer you can feel how strong it is and built to last. I put magic glides on the bottom to make it MUCH easier to move on carpet. The best filing cabinet I ever owned period. It also comes with all the necessary hardware for your files that have the standard hooks on the ends. Very spacious and DEEP file area. You won't need anything but this and your old files to transfer. Heck it even has a friggin LOCK on the side with 2 supplied keys, so what are you waiting for?!?! lol I loved this item so much that I bought a glass topper for it from a local glass cutter to protect it since we all should know by now that most all wood furniture these days is actually particle board and should NEVER see or meet water or any liquids or it will bubble, blister and deform! Real wood in this style with all the features would of easily been double the price. I would highly recommend this item.

The Sauder horizontal file works, and it looks okay. I was slightly disappointed that the back is a heavy-duty paper rather than wood, but it does stabilize the product. It was a real challenge for me to put together. The instructions were easy to read and follow, but because of the weight of the pressboard materials, and because I have arthritis in my hands, I had difficulty completing the task. If you do not have physical limitations, you may find it to be exactly what you want. I truly wish I had purchased a cabinet that was already assembled. I am still struggling to put together the matching hutch and computer desk.
