nice budget light wand
This light wand features variable brightness in ten steps. The lowest setting has an output equivalent to about a 25 watt incandescent light bulb while the highest setting has is about equivalent to a 75 watt incandescent light bulb. I did not do any scientific measurements, just estimated its comparison to the bulbs mentioned. It takes about 4 hours to charge from a fully depleted battery (USB charging only with included cable, no wall plug). The manufacturer does not recommend operating the light while USB charging cable is plugged in and charging. In a real-world test I conducted with a full battery charge the light on its lowest setting lasted 12 hours continuous, while the highest setting gave me exactly 2 hours continuous before shutting off. At the highest setting, the light and battery compartment get slightly warm but nothing alarming. The lowest setting is still bright enough for studio work if you want to fill in shadows. In addition to the various colors, which are nice and even, there are three whites to choose from: 1.) daylight; 2.) tungsten (warm white); and 3.) an even mix between the tungsten and daylight. There is no variable adjustment between cool and warm white. The light works well with video. I did not notice any flickering even at the lowest setting. It is lightweight, puts out enough light to fill shadows and can act as a key light in a pinch. The horizontal angle of dispersion is 180 degrees but the majority of the light is fixed in a 30 degree wedge in the middle of that spread. I'm going to estimate the vertical dispersion falling off pretty quick at 90 degrees from the center axis. I have no use for the remote control so I cannot comment on it. For the price I think this is a pretty nice light for filling in shadows and adding some accent color as needed.

Great lighting, very portable
I actually use these lights on set during some of my shoots for my video company. They are easy to charge and carry around, and they put out a good amount of light for close up interview work. For the price you can't go wrong. I highly recommend them.

So much use in a little bit of light
So far, this has been a wonderful source of light for all sorts of ideas. For one, it is light in weight and easy to operate. there are only a few buttons to bother with on the light stick itself, which you'll find yourself going to before anything else. They are quick and easy switching between common colors and intensity. If you need a little more control or would like to control it remotely, then it comes with a remote that adds a few extra kicks to it all. They include a ball-joint tripod thread adapter so that you can install it wherever you need it. Use it on a truss, on a tripod, behind some furniture, around or a corner, or in your hand (the most common use). This would be great for random headshots and other portrait shots for adding a nice effect.Battery life is pretty good. We'll absolutely have to play with it some more to see what the average life is over a period of time. For now, it seems to be lasting more than enough for your typical scenarios.

Excellent value!
I was fortunate to get it with a $20 off coupon, bringing the price down to $49 plus tax. This is a 180 degree LED light stick with 9 primary colors, a full range of CCT and lighting effects like police, ambulance, lightning, etc. The controls are easy to use with just 2 sprung dials that also press inward to select. you can use the dials to increase/decrease brightness or press the dial to advance thru 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% power. The mode dial advances thru the 9 colors and programmed effects, also with full brightness control. CCT mode offers full brightness and color temperature control. I havent verified the accuracy of the display versus the lighting color temperature, but really, what does it matter? as long as the temperature is consistent and repeatable, you should be good to go.charging is done via USB-C, and charges quickly. the 4000mAh battery lasts through a whole shoot and then some at full power. the back side has rubberized feet and magnets for mounting and both end caps have 1/4"-20 threads to add a handle and/or mount to a tripod or light stand. also included is a remote control for quick access to the settings. mine also came with a mini ball head and grip, negating my need to buy those eventually.bottom line is that this is a functional light that's well diffused, giving off a consistent, directional light through the whole length of the tube. the quality of diffuse light is actually far better than expected, even compared to light sticks twice the price. you're missing out on control via cell phone, but really that's more hassle than it's worth when trying to use an app to control a light stick.if you need 2 or more of these for your video or photography set, you really can't go wrong for the price as you are currently able to get two for the price of just one of the competition. as for being a brandless, white box item... so are the others, so let's be realistic. this is likely the same thing, from the same factory, pumped out with no brand name and that's the bottom line.for the price, i can't recommend it enough.

Excellent value for a versatile and dummy-proof soft lighting
I'm a videographer who like to travel light and move fast, so having a light like this at the ready is a welcome addition to my kit. It's a soft source all in one device. The battery lasts longer than I'd need in most cases, and if I need it to be on for longer, I can connect it to a battery bank via the micro USB port. There is of course a 1/4-20 thread at the bottom, so you can mount it as needed. It can be controlled either by the remote, or on the buttons located on the handle. The only negative I've found so far is that the remote isn't always very responsive. I sometimes either need to get closer or press the button harder. Not a big deal. For the RGB features, keep in mind that you cannot dial in the exact color you want. You are limited to the presets on the remote. Besides the 3 different color temperature settings, you can change it to red, green, blue, yellow-green, pink, and teal.
