An Enjoyable Regency Romance
Louise, a respectable lady from an undistinguished family, is compromised by a marquess. Lord Graham would probably not have done the honourable thing and offered marriage if it had not have been for the Duke and Duchess of Carlton who insisted on it. Not a good start for a marriage, particularly when Luke dumps Louise at his country estate and returns to his bachelor life in Town but Louise decides she is not going to be ignored; at the very least she wants a family of her own to love. So begins her campaign to make a future where she can have a happy and fulfilled life. I admired Louise, she was a strong woman who had been ignored by the ton whilst she was a Lady’s companion and it took a lot of guts both to take her place in Society as a Marchioness and to try an attract the attention of indifferent husband who she only knew as a drunk rake.Note: Some readers have complained about the sex scenes but there are only three and the first not until Chapter 9; all are within a marriage situation and didn’t seem particularly excessive to me.

Entertaining
Louise is a clever and determined heroine. I didn’t always like or agree with Luke’s decisions and the way he initially treated Louise, but he redeemed himself in the end. The narration was brilliant. A bit steamy at times, this book is a short and entertaining listen.I received a free copy of this audiobook via BookFunnel and am leaving a voluntary review.

Short historical romance
This was an okay short and sweet story. Miss Louise is an orphaned girl working as a duchess' companion when her friend gets married it is time to move on and find another job. One eventful night seals her fate by marrying the notorious bachelor Luke. when he accidentally enters her room, Luke has no choice but propose to her saving her from bad reputation. Miss Louise refuse to give up and will do everything to show her notorious husband, that their marriage will include love and happiness.

Enjoyable (but this should be book 2!)
Not much depth but a light, enjoyable read nonetheless. A few steamy moments but nothing OTT when compared to other books out there in the same genre. My one complaint is that chronologically this should be BOOK 2 rather than BOOK 1 as Louise’s friend/employer Mary is already married in this story and the tale of her marriage is the subject of book 2. Not a major issue as far Louise and Luke’s relationship is concerned but I prefer to read linked stories in the correct order if at all possible!

Chance is a great thing
This story starts at a ball where Luke, the Marquess Graham, either because he is more than a bit tipsy or perhaps because he has been set up by a jealous widow who dislikes the attention he is paying a debutante mistakenly enters Louise Grant’s room intent on sexual congress. Louise has been employed as a companion to her friend Mary. She has lived a blameless life in the shadow of her titled mistress. Frightened she screams loud enough to bring patrons of the ball to her door. Luke is honour bound to marry her and Louise feels forced to marry him as she is the sole provider for her siblings. Not an auspicious start. Luke stumbles about not knowing how to deal with another person in his life. His vacillation leaves Louise hurt more often than not. Louise though is a kind and loving person and she is determined to work hard to achieve a happy marriage if only she get Luke over his fear of commitment.I enjoyed this story. The characters are basically likable and the reader wants a happy outcome for them
