Brilliant to use
Brought this for my mom when she was in a care home she was 94 and we never thought that she would get used to it but we were having phone calls off her all the while so it proves how easy it was to use.

Great easy to use phone but not as big the newer Doro 1370
Elderly friend needed to replace a clam style Doro phone. Bought a 1370 only to find it did NOT work with her Three network SIM card as the Doro 1370 is only 2G. Didn’t have time to go through the porting phone number as needed a phone quick so found the 3G Doro 5516 which looked identical to the 1370 but turns out is much smaller. If you have trouble with your fingers the 1370 is a much easier to use size but the layout of both is virtually identical. Love the star button which takes you straight your top ten numbers. Sending a message is easy with the voice messaging Easy access torch and camera too. She now has 2 phones so when credit is used she will move over to bigger 1370. The 5516 is fab value for money and a brilliant little phone - as it’s older it’s not obvious when googling- I only found it by accident but defo worth a look if you want a simple to use phone

Love It, Love It, Love It Douro Mobile
I ordered this phone for my 92-year old father. He had the previous version, more than 15 years old, and was delighted when I turned up with something almost the same but with a bigger screen. The phone was easy to get out of the packing, for a start. This is important for the age-group that is likely to buy it.It looks like the previous Douro phone and has nice big buttons. He is already using it for calls, texts with large fonts, and enough internet capacity that it alerts him when his taxi is on the way (a miracle, he says).I particularly like the 'Emergency button' on the back which is thumb-size and easy to access, and calls the emergency services and two family (or other nominated) numbers simultaneously. My father charges his phone every night but this phone actually lasts almost a week if he were to forget.Superb, straightforward instructions - you see, it can be done.Love it, love it, love it.

Very good simple phone
The Doro 5516 is a really good choice if you want a simple phone without all the bells and whistles. The screen is display only, not touchscreen which is one main reason I chose the 5516. My other main reason is it should take any sim card, it is 3G. I'd read of some customers having trouble with getting Three network sims to work in their phones, but my Three sim worked straight away. Battery life seems to be pretty good too. The camera gives decent quality pics and video. It offers internet possibility if you have that with your network contract. There's a choice of ringtones and other settings as you'd expect. A concise users' guide is boxed with the phone and charger, and you can easily download a detailed guide. The only thing I'm not so impressed with is the way you open the back by prising up a corner and easing the cover off. The body of the phone is plastic, so you need to be very careful doing this. But in a phone costing under £30, I don't believe you'd do any better than the 5516.
