Monkey Business King Tong/Bamboo Kitchen Tongs/Versatile Eco-Friendly Cooking and Serving Utensil/Makes playful faces when in use (Yellow)

I like to wash my tongs in the dishwasher to sterilize after using on meat products. These hold up perfectly and without warping. Very happy with my purchase.Update: sadly, these broke due wife leaving in the barbecue. That said, I promptly reordered so peace reins in the house by ;) ...I love these tongs

This is a pair of bamboo kitchen tongs by Monkey Business, made in China. It is attractive, fun and silly, and highly versatile.When you squeeze the ends of the tongs together, the springy rubber spacer at the "fixed" end of the tongs squeezes into a funny face, which certainly contributes to these tongs being fun and silly. Also, you don't actually have to know how to use "chop sticks," you can just squeeze one end of the tongs, and then release them, again. The ends come together precisely so as to make it easy to pick up a single small piece of vegetable, like a carrot or broccoli.I was especially interested in these tongs for use with my cast iron and carbon steel frying pans and wok, so as not to scratch the nonstick coating that gets built up on them. They would also be good for other "nonstick" cookware. I use my tongs to take items out of the hot toaster oven, or to pull the baking rack out of the toaster oven so I can remove the food. I also use these tongs to reach into a deep jar, like an olive jar or pickle jar, to get out an olive or pickle. You can see from this Amazon listing that there are plenty of other uses for these silly tongs.The tongs are about 10 1/4 inches long. When the "open" end is "resting open," the width of the open ends of the legs of the tongs is 1 5/8 inches wide.

I have issues with my current tongs (one is falling apart and one is too small/short) so I wanted to give this one a try. While the yellow rubber "face" feature is a fun novelty I think it's lacking in a few areas. First, I noticed after using it a few times there were some stains from the food I was using it with that did not come out of the wood even after a good scrubbing with soap and water. Second, maybe it's just personal taste but I found the tongs hard to squeeze closed to grab things. I ended up moving my hand closer to the end to get more leverage but then your hand is getting close to whatever food you are trying to grab. Finally the wood pieces of the tong are quite thin/slender that they don't seem like they would hold up to much abuse. These seem better suited to picking up lighter food like noodles maybe but I wouldn't attempt much else with them. My next tong purchase will be something solid/metal!

Tongs seem most appropriate for grabbing salad from a bowl or small items from a tray. Not useful for cooking or grilling because they are too short to keep hands away from heat. The colored silicon wedge is removable for cleaning. Nice item.

We ordered these to replace a broken metal spring-style pair of tongs. We ended up also purchasing the metal tongs because I feel like these are difficult to clean. I only use these for easy-to-clean foods (salads, drier items). I think they will last a long time. They are cute and fun to use.

My grandson loves to pick things up with all kinds of tongs and all sizes too. So when I saw these I knew I had to get it for him. I think I use them more then him as his hands are smaller. When we play grammy will start picking up cars with her tongs. When he notices me doing this he will run and get his tongs (if they are not already out) and start picking up cars, animals and pom poms. We have so much fun.I liked them so much I did get a pair for my kitchen. I only use them for salads or bread, but I'm sure they could be used for all different things in a kitchen. Well made from bamboo and they are pretty sturdy in my hand when I am using them. They would also make a perfect gift for anyone.

I love these tongs. I like how they are bamboo so you can use them for salad but also picking things out of a pan fry. They look good in your salad bowl. They make use of a silicone piece to allow the pieces to close in together which is useful because it is both safe for the fryer, and it doesn’t break as easily as a spring might. You can’t lock them in a closed position but they also don’t really stick out obnoxiously far when in open position, so they are easier to deal with than locking tongs, because you don’t have to lock them before setting them down. They are also light and slender making it easy to find a space for in my kitchen tools drawer.

I like the tongs overall. They are a touch overpriced but seem to be holding up well. I do wish that they had some sort of mechanism to hold them closed when storing them in the drawer.
