54mm Bottomless Naked Portafilter Compatible with Breville Barista Series and 54mm Breville Machines

The media could not be loaded.  I had been looking for a bottomless portafilter for over a year now for the breville series espresso machines. I have the Barista Express 870xl and this awesome portafilter exceed my expectations. It’s definitely a darker color but didn’t mind since I had already moded my old portafilter with a lighter wooden handle. I have had my Barista Express for over 2 years now and adding a bottomless portafilter definitely makes me love this machine all over again. The portafilter came neatly packed in bubble wrap with a the Santo box. I cleaned it with soap and warm water. Definitely noticed it was pretty snug when I first used it but maybe that’s a good thing. Noticed my espresso was pretty consistent using fresh roasted beans. Hopefully this helps you figure out which third party portafilter you want to buy, I noticed all the other ones looked about the same or were even more expensive.

I like this overall and use it everyday. It heats up rather quickly and I would recommend this to others looking for a bottomless portafilter.Pros:-Cheaper than other bottomless portafilters-Works with Breville 54mm machines-Looks prettyCons:-Does not fit in the machine as easily as my Breville portafilter-The wooden handle and portafilter attach by rotating the portafilter into a threaded area of the handle... this is very loose however and I've found that even the slightest amount of pressure to the right edge of the basket will cause it to become unscrewed and all of your coffee will spill out... very annoying.I am going to remedy this by using some teflon tape around the threads to add some additional friction and hopefully tighten up the threads so that I don't end up losing more coffee to this mishap.

This fits my breville espresso machine. I like the look and feel of the wood handle.The problem I have with it is that it sprays everywhere when it brews because the bottom is open. I thought the open bottom would make it easier to clean and also see the espresso brew out. I’m putting freshly ground coffee in it and stamping it down correctly but I just can’t get it to not spray. The coffee puck doesn’t seem to dry out as well as the breville portafilter. I’m not sure if this is due to the open bottom design or what but the coffee puck often sticks to the espresso machine when I detach the portafilter to empty it. The original breville portafilter has 2 spouts on the bottom to direct the flow into your cup to avoid it spraying outside the cup. I still have the original. I got this one as an extra because my husband likes to brew a double espresso and I prefer single and it was annoying switching out the filters to the appropriate size every day.

Perfect fit for my Breville Barista Express. The wooden handle looks great as well.

* Fits the Breville Infuser (BES840XL).* Has a clip to secure the filter basket in place, like the stock one.* Great build quality; no scuffs or jagged edges on any part.* Handle is real wood and easily detachable for cleaning. I recommend detaching it for drying to avoid any chance of rust/wood rot.

Bottomless portafilters are good for being able to see where you may be making mistakes in your espresso prep, and this product does exactly that. I also love the wood handle which adds a bit of design into a standard product.The main issue that I have is with how the head attaches to the handle and what happens when you try to clean it after each shot. The head is designed to screw off the handle and there isn't really a good way to tighten this so that it doesn't come off easily. When pulling shots, it works perfectly fine and doesn't cause any issues. The problem comes when you have to rinse/dry the portafilter after each shot. As soon as you apply any pressure to the basket head to wipe it down, it rotates off the handle. This doesn't really matter which way you hold the portafilter because you have to put your fingers into the basket to clean it.I pull a minimum of 2 shot a day, any every time I clean it in between shots, the top of it loosens and I have to tighten it back up.

Fits perfectly in the Breville machine and with the standard baskets. Perfect if you want to improve on your shots.Only issue and it might not be related to the portafilter is that it is very difficult to observe the single shot basket flow because it's quite shorter than the double shot basket.

Handle becomes loose too easily.Not worth the money. Way over priced.
