A multitude of uses for this versatile LED light.
First of all, my rating is more like 4.5 stars which, obviously, is not possible. It's plenty bright, and the low power and the emergency flasher settings are more than welcome. Since this item is largely intended to be mounted via it's fairly strong rare earth magnet, the minor complaints I have come in to play in hand held situations. The battery cap could loosen unintentionally depending on how one handles it. Also, I'm surprised they went with such a smooth grip area. There are at least a few ways to remedy that, though most of them would probably get a bit messy in the summer, particularly if Big Larry resides in a hot car, which is where I'd most likely have mine. One idea in my head that would probably work is a carefully applied layer (or several) of spray-on truck bed liner. I feel it could use a bit of texturing, and even a bit more diameter in the grip area. I do, however, realize that they have to keep the weight down so the magnet can do it's job. I also wonder about the durability of the lense covering the LEDs. It's probably stronger than it looks/feels, but I'd prefer not to find out what a few drops might do to it. It seems like it could get pretty scratched up over time, but an optical quality lens is not likely to be a concern with Big Larry's intended uses. I'm guessing some people wish it utilized a rechargeable system but, for me, using AAs is perfect. It's not the sort of flashlight that most will use on a daily basis, so AAs are perfect for those that always have some on hand. Like many infrequently used battery powered items, you may find it best to store with batteries removed, but nearby. I simply rubber band a set of AAs to the exterior, stored empty. Most think of it as primarily for automotive breakdowns in the dark, but I can think of several uses, a big one being power outages. It has a few advantages over battery powered lanterns. At some point, I may try attaching two of them back to back, for a serious 360 degree illumination. For something like an interior bathroom in a house, that rig, magnetically mounted to the top of a medicine cabinet, would provide plenty of light for those "off the grid" moments.

Wonderful, all purpose, VERY BRIGHT light
I bought this light at a local lawnmower shop several years ago. I recently, gave it to one of my kids. When I went to buy another, the lawnmower place wasn't selling them anymore- something about the profit margin.. So I bought two from Amazon! It works well when I work on a car. The magnet frees up my hands. It also works well when I'm doing plumbing under a sink. A wonderfully bright light!

Great flashlight!
I bought this because I work nights and my job sometimes requires climbing ladders up the side of a building to get to air handling equipment on the roof. Lighting is generally poor to non-existent and a really good flashlight is difficult to carry while climbing a ladder. A co-worker had one of these I was able to borrow last time I had to do that and I fell in love with it. I photographed it with my phone so I could match it up and make sure I ordered the exact same item. I love it!

Big Larry is a big deal
We have quite a few Fenix lights, Surefire etc. but Big Larry is probably the best surprise and value of them all. $20 for this all metal, very bright and great light throw is a nice surprise. Excellent construction and way better than any of the cheaper lights I’ve seen. Top switch is solid and feels well made, the third mode red flashing light makes this an excellent light for vehicles to have on board.Definitely ordering more of these - a very solid and well made light that will get a lot of use.

Flicker issue (with diy fix!)
The light itself is very nice and produces a bright light over a wide field of view. It does suffer from a design issue in the battery compartment though. I went through multiple of these trying to get one that didn't flicker and surprisingly, they all suffer from flickering or changes in brightness as the light is moved in hand ever so slightly. The issue is in the battery compartment. It appears they left a little too much wiggle room in the battery compartment causing power to change as the battery moves around. The easiest fix it to apply something in the battery cap to make the battery's push up tighter in the light. This can be done by either applying a proper fitting metal washer into the battery cap or (perhaps easier) aluminium foil. After this fix, the light suffers no flickering at all.Minus 1 star due to a +$20 light requiring tinfoil to work correctly haha

Big Larry puts out an amazing amount of bright white light
Big Larry puts out an amazing amount of bright white light. 400 lumens for 4.5 hours, 160 lumens for 15 hours, red hazard for 40 hours. To me the red is annoying because the switch sequence is high->low->hazard, so you see it every time you use it. It might be nice if you purchased this for a car. This thing makes an excellent area light, that would be good for camping or power failures. Mine works well on rechargeable batteries. The light is a little heavy which might make you think it could be used as a 'thumping' tool in an emergency situation. The LED cover is clear plastic so I do not recommend counting on it surviving much of an impact. For the price and light output this thing is great. With the clear plastic LED cover, I have some doubts about the durability.

Worth it
5 stars but a personal con(s)?The light works great and it's everything you expect. Certainly has helped me out at work when working in dark confined spaces but a few buts. The magnet works well but I've accidentally hit the light a few times and it has fallen to the ground. Therefore the aluminum body got scratched up. Also it's heavier than expected. I've used a plastic led light before and it weighed next to nothing.Still I give this thing a 5 star because it does everything it said it would. Also I wish they would change the button, most of the time I only need high setting but have to circle through all of them to turn it off. Other flashlights have a delayed push to enable other settings.
