ASPPalm Defender OC Inserts, Pepper Spray Refill, Replacement Cartidge, Heat

The ASP Palm Defender is a handy little self-defense option. If you are going to carry it, you should be familiar with how it works, how much "ammo" is in the can, how far it will spray, how focused or dispersed the spray pattern is, how the wind may affect it, and so on.The best way to do that is to get a couple of these inert capsules and do some training. I wish these were a lot cheaper. At the current price point of $9 for a single item, I don't think a lot of people will throw down the money necessary to do a robust training program. That's a problem. As has been said, in times of stress, people don't rise to the occasion - they are reduced to the level of their training.If you are going to carry or give a loved one a Palm Defender for self-defense, I urge you to also provide at least two or three of these inert capsules to practice the "draw" from a pocket or purse, flicking off the safety mechanism, aiming, and spraying.As for the product itself, it meets expectations. It contained the advertised amount of spray - about 3 bursts of a half second each. This is not a lot -- you need to get it right the first time. All the more reason to practice.

After inserting the refill in the defender canister, the solution came out the top. Might as well purchase a whole new unit vs purchasing a refill. Solution went everywhere.

I finally convinced my gf to carry something when she is working late nights on call at the clinic. I got her the palm defender because it is small enough to clip to her badge lanyard and is fairly unobtrusive. I also picked up the inserts for testing so she could practice. Well worth the money! We set up a cardboard "outline" of a head/shoulders, and she tested it from different distances, as well as testing different spray durations. She feels much better about using it if she ever has to. Easy to install ans swap out. If you have the palm defender, get these. Get a few. For the cost of one night at the movies, you can get a lot of practice in.

The insert I just received has an expiry date 7 months from now. Would have like to have some faith that the spray would be effective for more than a few months. A larger MACE container I also picked up is good for ~3 more years.

Recently purchased the ASP palm defender for my fiance. she was a little hesitant of using this defensive weapon. After practicing with this test insert she know is now comfortable with carrying the palm defender. This gave her the first hand experience of the range and duration of the inserts. It also gave me the piece of mind knowing that she is proficient with the device. Anyone who wants to safely learn to use this weapon should practice with this well worth the price.

Well I never expected that I would have to carry pepper spray but after a scary incident I bought the Palm Defender. I needed to buy the test inserts so I could practice using it...it was easy. I have since bought my daughter and my niece ASP Palm Defenders and the test inserts as well.

I have used ASP products for a long time. I have had a palm defender for about 8 years now. I changed out the "heat" cartridge earlier this month. The expiration date was OCT 2019, so I got a new one. I never test the new inserts as the burst is too small, do not care to waste product. So as I was changing it out, I decided to fire off the insert I had, the one that should have been good through OCT 2019. It came out as a trickle, no spray whatsoever. Not sure how long this condition existed as the inserts are normally good for around 2 years. Sad to think if I needed this thing, it would have failed.

Good to practice with. Gave me an accurate view of what my ASP Palm Defender will do if I need to use it.
