Updated: Great device and customer support, will shop AGPtEK in the future
Edit: Updated after < 1 week of ownership, AGPtEK has contacted me with a firmware update which addresses (and fixes) the track-sorting issue cited below. A+ customer service - they had my money and a good review, but they took the time to contact me and offer a firmware update that fixed the only problem I had. 5/5 would buy again, will trust AGPtEK with future purchases. Everything after this sentence is my original review. It feels like every time smartphone technology bundles in a new feature, the overall product suffers. Sure my phone has a music player, but I want to have charge left at the end of the day. Plus, every time the headphone jack gets jiggled, my "smart" phone kills the music (a feature that can't be toggled). So I needed a nice, simple, cheap digital music player.Digital music player AND expandable memory? For under $30? Too good to pass up. I like the material too; it's like that soft rubbery-plastic material... what suede is to leather, this material is to plastic. Anyway that's nice. The sound is great, the EQ settings are a nice feature (5-level custom or several presets to choose from), battery life is good, unit is small and light. I wish there was a clip accessory for it, but I settled for an arm band. I had an extra 16GB micro SDHC card sitting around, and it works just fine.So I'm completely satisfied with the unit except for one thing: The song sorting by album. Little bit of lazy/short-sighted programming I think...Song order comes up like this (Track #):1012023...112112...So I'm not super upset about that, but I do like to let albums play through in order (especially when one track flows into the next), so that's a small inconvenience. Not perfect, but absolutely worth the price. And the battery is good for a long time; I just got done with about 4-5 hours of work with constant play, and the battery is about 80%. So 30 hours of continuous play seems about right with a full charge. I imagine, since it's a lithium battery and it goes into idle pretty quickly when unused, that it won't lose charge quickly if it just sits around. If you're really on the fence, I say buy it. I paid full price for this product, and I was not asked to leave this review (I always feel like those reviews where people got the product free/heavily discounted are questionable cases, so I like to point out that I'm just a regular person, not a "paid" reviewer).Oh I haven't checked the FM antenna... okay it's good. Nothing amazing, but it gets all the local stations (so not worthless). AND you can record FM radio! I haven't done that since high school. Recorder is good; microphone works well if you're a "Note to self" type person. Picture function is neat, and idk about the video player. But the screen size is so small it's like, "What is this? A movie for ants?" But I assume it works well, resolution looks to be ~640x480.Alright, like I said earlier, buy it. You really didn't need to read this far.

Great Audio Player (But Can't Play Audio from SD and Internal)
I bought this as a replacement for my Sandisk Fuze (the original) that died a few months back.I wish Sandisk still made the fuze as I took it everywhere with me for 5-6 years when i was in high school and college.I was looking for something that wasn't super tiny, had a screen, and had an SD card slot.I really only listen to music and use the sleep timer.I don't like using a phone or tablet to play music since it kills my battery.Things to note:Lets start with the bad:Cannot play audio from the SD card and internal storage together (what the?).-Example: You have you switch which storage you want to use and you can only see songs in that storage.-This is just plain annoying, having to switch storage.-My only real negative feedback. Now the neutral things:The User interface could do with some polishing, its not terrible though.I tried my PNY and Sandisk SD cards, both worked flawlessly, (how can a standard form not fit?).Packaging is fairly nice, but obviously built to a price. The manual actually had pretty good English, (i've bought more expensive items that had worse manuals). The screen isn't great, but I bought this as a music player.I don't really care for the on/off switch, but its solid enough and won't be accidentally turned off.Having a sleep mode and on/off switch is an interesting design choice.-You can put the device to sleep by holding the Pause/Play button for 3 seconds. And finally the good:Great Audio player.-Sounds better than my computer with a "gaming" motherboard with "crystal" sound.-I don't play FLAC files or any of that silly stuff, usually just MP3s at 320 Kbps.Great value.-Sub 30 dollars! It works well.Has a decent battery life. Its simple.Decent build quality.

A good value if you can live with its quirky interface/features.
It's a reasonable player for the price once you learn its interface idiosyncrasies. A lot of functions are buried in the UI or only work on certain menus. For example, my player's power saving feature (turn off after x minutes) only works at the root menu. There also may be some bugs which may frustrate people but I can live with.+Acceptable audio quality, it's 'ok.'+Lots of storage+Bookmark feature, you can manually set 10 bookmarks per audio file. May be useful for listening to/segmenting lectures.+Charge can last a long time if you make sure to turn it off after use.+Has Radio, but setting presets are kind of a pain.+Easy to create folders/copy files over.-Quick charge isn't really quick.-The center play and pause button is loose. It sometimes takes more presses to activate than it should. Or sometimes I need to go to a menu and back which I think is a bug.-Sorts files oddly based on filename or by order in which they are copied.-Quirky interface where things take a bit more work to use than they probably should. But looking at reviews, this still seems like an improvement over older models.-A surprisingly slow fast forward and rewind that does not seem to increase in speed the longer you hold the button.Considering the price, I'd easily give this 4 stars if it weren't for the play button issue. It's still usable and there's a lot of value here. Just don't expect it to be as slick as higher end brands.Tip: I sort the files/albums/songs myself using folders and use browse at the root menu instead of music/etc. It's a lot less of a hassle that way.Note: I mainly use this for music/podcasts. I have not tried the ebook, video playback, or the microphone yet.

Good unit for price and just playing audio!
I bought this MP3 player for the sole purpose of learning french through the audio files I purchased. Although it's not high quality, the price you pay is well worth it.What I like:- Simple/Easy controls- Bookmark locations within audio file for playback from that point- FM radio with record feature allows me to record ici-Radio Canada and others for playback later- Headphones are decent quality for the price- Good battery lifeWhat I didn't like:- You need a 3rd party software to transfer album art- Sort order of files change when loaded to MP3 player, you need the 3rd party software to change this.- 3rd party software is for Windows, I only use Linux.

Best of the budget mp3 players
Best of the budget mp3 players.I got this at the old price of 14.99 , and was so pleased I bought a second. It takes a 64gb card, plays FLAC files and the user interface is much better than the Kubic (which I also own)Sound quality wise, it is better than the usual generic chinese mp3 players , but not quite up there with my old ipod. The difference is minimal tbh.The folder function is excellent and the player is simple to use.Battery life seems to be especially good.I use it with my computer "hi fi" system and run it into a little bear tube preamp which really helps the sound.I also own the Kubic which is cheap and plasticky looking , but sounds ok.This was half the price and better value. It has gone up a fiver , but is still a better bet than most of the other cheapo generic mp3 players
