My new favorite notebook of all time! I have used various laboratory notebooks for 30+ years, from the school style with splotchy black and white covers and rules printed so dark they interfere with reading your words, to the professional type with signature, witness and date blocks at the bottom of every page. I've tended toward the larger format with grid lines for their usability across all requirements (drawing-writing-shared drawing).This notebook has the four key features I was looking for:* Large format! Awesome large pages.* The gridlines are light but visible, like ( TOPS Engineering Computation Pad, Quad Rule , but on BOTH sides.* The paper is strong to withstand ink, erasing, scratching, etc.* The cover is flexible for portability (important for the large format!)Please note that the spine is glued, not sewn. Glued spines do not lay as flat as some sewed spines. No points deducted. I have flattened multiple spreads in this notebook without destroying the spine (yet). If you require lay-flat, buy a sewed spine.I have destroyed some other glued notebooks by other vendors. This one appears to have a high-quality glue job, so I am optimistic. I will downgrade my rating if any pages fall out in the future.

This chemistry notebook brings me back to very fond days at Pfizer and all the joys associated with the data science work. I must have filled 15 them over the years and have found them again after a long hiatus. The quality is still superior with a nice green page with pleasing blue lines and page numbers. Yes some like the larger size laboratory notebooks but the smaller 9.75 x 7.25 keeps note writing focused. The books moves around easily with a laptop as well. Works very nicely for fountain pens, with some show through, but no bleed through, with darker inks. Seems to be well-made, and is the correct size - fits well in my covers. Its quite nice to have a hard cover book to insert into it, again. The lines are a bit prominent, and I'm not sure if they will cause an issue once it is digitized. I will amend this once that is completed.The lines are a bit narrow. I would prefer a legal/wide ruled pad, but that's merely personal preference.I took off a star, as I just cannot see the reason for the lines being so dark.

It was floating unwrapped in a large box when delivered, and since this is note a hard cover book, the cover was all bent. As a large book, and for this price, it would benefit from a hard cover. This is disappointing.I want to add that Roaring Spring is my favorite brand anyway.

This does the job it needs to do. The covers are a little flimsy and shipping took slightly longer than expected on Prime. Also, I wish there was an area on the cover to put contact info. The backsides of the pages are kind of difficult to write on, my writing is noticeably messier on them. I only need this for a 200 level class with 10 labs so the labs are short enough that I can write on one side of the page and not run out of room.

I ordered a half-dozen different chemistry notebooks in this nominal size, looking for one that fit a nice custom leather cover for composition books that I got as a gift for a chemist friend. This was the ONLY chemistry notebook available that was true to size. Chemistry-notebook quality paper, comp-book binding and accurate size. Perfect for my needs, and true to size, but other chem notebooks do have nicer binding if you're going to use them by themselves.
