No transmit audio
I bought this as a Christmas present for my husband, here is what he said about it."Nice little radio but it didn't work! it transmits a carrier but there was no audio (no one could hear me) Now I've got to wait for a refund as it had to be sent back to China at a cost to me of £16.60 HALF THE COST OF THE RADIO!!"Thankfully Amazon refunded my purchase price but the seller DISD NOT REFUND THE £16.60 POSTAGE COST."I wouldn't recomend anyone buying from this seller as he expects you to post it to China but does not refund the postage.

Very good radios for business use
Excellent service and prompt delivery. The radio is good, haven’t yet measured output power yet but does meet expectations, works pretty well on both bands. I have been able to test it on full power with my business radio licence and gives good results in a 2.5-mile suburban area with newly-built houses. The larger battery does make a difference. Standby time is approx 3 days. If you use the radio frequently during the day on high power, you might need to recharge every 36 hours.Overall very happy with them.Don’t forget to get your licence and make sure you program them to work on the correct frequencies!

Good little radio
It's a good little radio, I bought this to replace the cheap little PMR radio that just fell apart so I thought I would spend a bit more money for a better hand set, it's easily programmed using CHIRP and if you are a HAM and want a starter radio or just want to do some listening with this radio is fine, probably better with a better/longer antenna, now for the bad comment and I know I have given this radio 5 stars but it's crap compared to my YAESU handheld but what do you expect for £30 and for £30 it's great, it's just you get what you pay for so for a starter radio or a radio you don't mind losing or worrying about getting it damaged this is the one to go for and the features this radio has for £30 is amazing, how they do it for the money I will never know, I am very pleased with the purchase but it will never replace my Yaesu as if I had to replace it I would spend the £380 it would cost to replace.

Nice radio, but the world's most useless instruction manual
I've used these radios in the USA for a few years and they are excellent for the price. The only drawback is that the instruction manual is hilariously useless - it contains information that will be valuable if you're already an experienced amateur radio enthusiast. But if you want to set up your Baofeng as a first-time user, then good luck.Better yet, when you go to Youtube for instruction videos, or look online for text instructions, they all say "Press the VFO/MR button. But guess what? There is no such button anywhere. Even the Youtube videos use radios that don't have any such button. So if you don't already know how to do the setup you're basically screwed.

BaoFeng UV-5R Tri-Power
Pleased initially with this transceiver. For the money you can't complain. Has a lot of features and the 8W output is very handy. Just one criticism, after extended use 60 minutes, the radio gets a bit hot. The LCD starts to go dark in the corner but returns to normal once the radio has cooled down. This is a good radio to get you started, once you have your Foundation Licence.

Cost effective
What I liked the price and also it's the 8 watt model with larger battery also.Only draw back really is no programe cable not included but it's cheap and works ok good for taking out and about rather than your icom costing a lot more.so if you brake it not a big deal.
